There are several options for accomodations depending if you want to camp or get a room. For hotels, in Prineville I'd recommend the Stafford Inn, they have a great breakfast. www.staffordinn.com/For Madras, I'd recommend the Inn at Cross Keys Station (owned by the Priday family). They have a great breakfast too. www.innatcrosskeysstation.com/For camping in Prineville, there are a number of options: Prineville Reservoir state park www.oregonstateparks.org/park_34.phpOchoco National Forest - Many campgrounds (Walton lake; Wildcat) www.forestcamping.com/dow/pacficnw/ochcmp.htmFor the digs, I figure we can decide on some common places to meet up. I'll PM everyone who's going with my phone # later. I'm planning to be at the Prineville Pow-wow Jun 25th in the afternoon and evening for the music. That will be a good place/time to meet and greet. My wife, and I will be doing the Prineville area mid May, but might do the Pow Wow week as well.........two trips to central Oregon just has to be good, and meeting some fellow RTHers would make the trip even better. We normally camp in the boondocks, but Oregon is so wonderful to vets we use the state parks, like the Prineville Reservoir. Hope to meet some of you there. Woody

Some friends, my wife and I are planning to attend Madras powwow this year. Current plans are to leave Bay Area early enough to get a few days on our own before the powwow, so......
I definitely want to keep in touch and see what works!

Well, the Prineville Pow-wow field trips have been announced. Here they are:
Friday: Richardson's Ranch Saturday: Joe McDonald's Ranch (right next door to Richardson's) Sunday: Little Bear Creek
Now that we have the field trips, I'll start working to put some kind of schedule together.

Here's the schedule I've put together for the first part of the trip. I can change things around other than the Prineville Pow-wow events. Thursday June 25: Prineville Pow-wow (Meet up throughout the day; [glow=red,2,300]Afternoon/early evening: Bear Creek Agate (moss, green plume, white plume)[/glow]; Evening: Beers at my place) June 26: Richardson's Ranch (The Pow-wow is leading a field trip and I'm thinking the beds will be plowed; should be a good day to go; Thundereggs; Jasper) [glow=red,2,300]Meet at the ranch @ 07:00 [/glow] June 27: Walton Lake Area (Tube Agate, Green Jasper, Green Moss agate, Vistaite) [glow=red,2,300]Meet at Walton Lake @ 08:00[/glow]Evening: RTH get together/swap @ HPD's - I'll provide details to the crew down there June 28: Glass Buttes (Obsidian) [glow=red,2,300]Meeting place/time TBD[/glow] June 29: Hampton Butte (Petrified wood; Agate; Jasper; Limb Casts) [glow=red,2,300]Meeting place/time TBD[/glow] June 30: Maury Mountain (Moss agate) [glow=red,2,300]Meeting place/time TBD[/glow] July 1st: Madras Pow-wow (Meet up in morning; Excursion to Richardson's in afternoon??) July 2-4: TBD July 3: Evening: Auction at Madras Pow-wow We'll set up the meeting places/times depending on everyone's familiarity with the region. For Glass Butte/Hampton Butte, I was thinking we could meet at the turn offs of Hgwy 20. We can also ride share to some of these places. I'll have two vehicles in my crew and should have some extra room. On some of the afternoons, I'll be splitting off to do some prospecting in some promising spots. All are welcome to come, but I won't be posting these spots on the site

I have a family reunion in Eagle Creek on the weekend of July 10th, so that is too close together to make both trips. Bummer, I love the Prineville pow wow, was a blast last year.

I will definitely be there. I am heading up there early so I can show wife and daughter Crater Lake and a few other places they have never seen. We will be staying at a nearby KOA as the daughter likes the swimming pool:) Let me know how to meet up with you guys. I am planning on doing Richardson and Mcdonalds.

Well, a little more than two weeks remain until the rockhounding event of the year.
I'll send a PM out to everyone going with my cell phone number. I'm planning to be at the Pow-wow Thursday, June 25th around 10 am and will be there until the afternoon. I'll be wearing my RTH T-shirt. We're tentatively planning to hit the Bear Creek arm of the Prineville reservoir late Thursday afternoon after unpacking at our place. I tried to scope out the area last weekend, but the downpours prevented me from getting in. I'll be tweaking the schedule a bit and providing some more details.
So far I have the following folks going: Nancy (nancyid) Woody (woodyrock) Bill (wildshack) DeanW

This will be a good year, I can feel it. I have an awesome tip on some great material, but we'll need to dig a major hole. We'll need all hands on deck. I'll send out a PM in about a week. Dan

Is anyone flying in or willing to have an extra passenger in their car? It's just too far to drive from Florida. Susan

Our rigs will be full heading down from Portland. I may have room for a rider to some of the digs. It depends if my whole crew goes each day.

Depends on where you are flying in to. I might have some room, could pick you up at the Boise airport on the way and drop you off at the Boise airport on the way back.
