My weekend afternoons spent wailing away on the WF have started to get on my neighbors nerves. My one next door neighbor asked me what the heck I'm tiling and when am I going to be done. My wife won't let me cut if it looks like any of our neighbors are entertaining. I've been careful about that but maybe I should switch to cutting in the garage with the door closed. I have an insulated garage door (probably another Michigan thing). That will only be an option for another couple of weeks before the garage will become a sauna.
Has anybody had any issues with complaints about saw noise from neighbors?

I'm surprised at the reaction of your neighbour given that a tile saw is much quieter that the wood cutting equivalent, or a gas lawn mower for that matter. I'd remind your neighbour that they are most fortunate that you are into rocks rather than wood, or landscaping, but then again I'm a bit of a prick.
My neighbour is a heavy metal drummer wanna-be. Fortunately, we both believe in "Live and let live". It could be worse, he could paly the bag pipes. The glass is always half full.

I've had my WF in the basement for a while now, my next door neighbor complains if I run the 18" too much even, so I'm thinking about bringing that inside too, although I probably will instead get a 10" self-feed saw for inside and just use the 18" at times when he's OK with it.
Someday I hope to live out of town...

Heck, I hate the noise the darn saw makes, good thing I already have hearing loss! I like to saw to drown out my neighbors dogs that bark all the time, they always have those darn dogs out barking, and their yard is right near my son's window so he is up at the crack of dawn because of them! I live in a twin and surprisingly my neighbor next to me, never hears my cab machine or my saw in my basement! I try to be respectful of them since she works shift work.

Just when I thought that if I could hear the neighbors chain saw they lived too close, they started building houses near us. We even have right next door, the stupid begger aligned his house so the view from the huge picture window is my wood pile. There is nobody in the house now, and it is for sale, and nobody wants it...must be both the price, and the view, eh? Woody

City living sucks! I have to wait until 10:00 on weekends to run my tile saw in the back (postage stamp) yard. At first, it was fine but I have heard some grumbling. I figure if I have to hear rap or foreign music and often yelling, they can listen to my saw. Some areas around here have HOA's that say no power equipment use unless it is a contractor doing work on your place and they have to get permission. I am house hunting right now and that tosses them out of my consideration! Fran

I haven't had any complaints, but neighbors keep asking what projects am I working on and when will I be done. It's hilarious when I emerge with my butcher's apron and goggles on. I should tell them I'm tiling my entire garage.

I have my newly built 50 lb. tumbler and my vibe running in my garage all the time. I get comments when people walk by and I have the door open. Usually it's just stuff like "there's something making noise in your garage".
I run my 10" saw with the garage door closed. It's quieter than the WF, but it's still a little noisy (especially when combined with the tumblers).
The WF is loud and I've only used it twice. It's so messy that I wouldn't want to use it in the garage unless I had a big tub to set it in.
I wait until 9 or 10 am to cut and stop around 7 at night. I imagine it's only a matter of time until I start getting real complaints.

Breaking-up rocks into tumbling rough makes a helluva racket. Luckily, I'm friends with all of the neighbors here, and they have their own noise issues, so nobody complains about each other. One guy has a barking dog, another has a loud truck, and another cranks music. Works for me.

My wife recently told me that one of our neighbors was complaining about my noise a year ago. I guess it wasn't a big deal since I was never told. My next door neighbor told me last week he was getting a slab saw from his uncle. I wonder how disturbing it will be when we are both cutting at the same time.

My neighbor finally asked a couple weekends ago about the sounds that come out of my shed on weekends. I've been polite and not run the WF while they entertain out back (which seems like EVERY single weeknight), but I refuse to let them rule my hobby. I do limit my WF usage to a couple hours at most a week, but my slab saw was usually running all weekend long.

Pebblepup, that's funny! LOL. My neighbors pretty much all know what I'm doing and are supportive. I've "paid them off" with gifts and that helps. They like coming over and checking in, seeing what I'm working on, and saying hi to Angie who hangs out in my jeep while I work.

i run my 10" slab pretty much whenever I feel like as it is pretty quiet. I have a tile saw that I cut smaller stuff on by hand that isn't too quiet though. That one I usualy save up the rock and then cut for a full day. That way I might be noisy all day but it isn't very often. In any case its not as bad as my neighbors dog. Every time it barks they call it over to the house and give it a treat to "quiet it up". I'm not sure if they are smart enough to realize thats how you train a dog to bark. It barks, it gets a treat. Smart dog.

I have 3 to 5 slab saws running most of the time, all of them out in my carport, or as my wife calls it, The Saw Port. First thing I do in the morning and last thing I do at night is let Callie out and reset the saws and turn them back on. They get reset and restarted everytime I come home to pick up a tool or when I come home for lunch, then when I get off work they run until I go to bed usually anywhere from 11pm to 1am. Haven't had any complaints yet.

I usually cut with the garage door closed-during the winter I have a little heater, and in the summer I"ve got a little AC unit to keep me cool. I haven't had a complaint yet, but my husband worries about it. Heck, I don't get to get out there cutting often enough for anyone to complain!
