;)Hey since Frane can come from VA, can I come from MD ;D
I had a thought for a location and show combo, how about meeting in DE in March at the big show there. We could at meet a local restaurant or whatever, and attend the Gem Show.
If that is a bad Idea, I still plan on going to DE for the show, maybe a group that is going could meet. I would love to put names to faces, in case I see your picture in the Post Office ;D

Bad news for me. I made the mistake of telling Social Security what I estimate for income this year....they're not paying me until May - withholding three months benefits. I can't afford to go anywhere until they start paying again.
If anyone wants to take over the rock swap, you're welcome to it.

Lee, well the DE show might be an option, or lets look at early summer when the weather is nice, no one needs to worry about driving. We need a good location, let me think, please if anyone has any suggestions throw them in the pot here, I guess we need an activity to do as a group, a cheap motel, and that's about it, maybe a hotel with a large sitting area for us to hang. Let me get back from Burro Creek and thinking about all that, and then I will focus on this,

I'll give it some thought too,I really want to see this happen.Maybe moving it back a little might be a good thing since the weather should be better.

I'll just throw this idea out for y'all. Around Franklin County in northern New Jersey, you can find purple puddingstone and possibly fluorite. I forget the lake where the puddingstone is but just need to look at a map. You can tour Sterling Hill Mining Museum and visit their "Dump" (gigantic rock piles from all over). There is a fee to access the dump plus $3 per pound that you take home. We didn't go on the mine tour because we had Angie with us and the tour is a couple hours long. You could pretty much spend a whole day there.
I know we went hunting in a few streams for Carnelian too. Have the coordinates to one of them and can ask directions to the other. This all may be more south than everyone wants to trek, but if you need more details, let me know. Jo

Jo: I was thinking about Franklin also, I know the access to the one quarry is only once per month, maybe you can look into what they will provide for groups, and maybe we can find a cheap motel around there to give us a discount for a block of rooms, I thought it would be fun to have a rock related activity to do as a group.
