Looking for some interest. Since MOST of us can't drop everything and take off for FL or UT , I thought it would be great if we had a rock swap so we could see the exotic take from those foreign lands. And maybe swap our native shale and sandstone. And meet each other. And eat. And probably do other stuff. Lee

Don't know yet..want to find out who might show for it. On an average right now, I'd think the Binghamton area. That would give me a 3-4 hour drive from near Dunkirk, NY. You would be another 2 hours away. Anyone in East PA would be a couple hours away. Krazydiamond an hour or less, Connrocks, I dunno,.....

OK Fran, just for you we could include VA ;D You can shoot up 81. I know that I can get from my place to Alexandria in 7 hours, so Binghamton wouldn't be a bad drive.

Lee: Thanks for pointing me to this, are you talking about me going to FL and UT? LOL I will soon have the FL chert for ya! This would be awesome!
One ide might be meeting at a Beach place like in the early Spring while it is off season and we could get good deals on a hotel ont eh Beach to make it more of a destination? Me and Tony are in! Rockrookie is out in Western PA but has family near Cherry Hill, NJ. Randy is in VA BEach and maybe we could entice him!
Plus we are so much fun I met we could generate enough excitement to have those folks on the Left Coast wanna come on East and see us!

This sounds like a good idea. I have some family memebers who might be interested from York, PA.

I may be in depending on what gets worked out. I live in Rochester, NY but never been to Binghamton. I can bring some Lake Ontario rocks for whatever they're worth

Larry, I think I was kidding about bringing sandstone and shale (that's what is native where I live - Forestville, NY). There is some Onondaga chert near you and whatever the glaciers pushed down from Canada.

Oh, I wasn't referring to that stuff There's actually good, cab-worthy rocks I've pulled from the rocky beaches nearby. I'm actually wrapping one of those next. I'll post pictures when done.

Lee as Amber said I'd definitely be interested. I've been collecting a lot of local stuff lately and I'm really learning that PA has some nice lapidary material. Fran, Randy or any other southerners are welcome to drive to us and car pool the rest of the way. This really sounds like fun.

Lee: What are you thinking? Maybe this Fall? Before the holidays and while it is still good for driving and nice Fall foliage for people making the trip? Let's set a date, if you PM me some hotels or things, I will be happy to call around and see about getting group rates, depending on the number interested! Amber
