and here's just a few more polished up and sitting in my display case. I've stuck to my guns and have been polishing alot of my Agates before I start cutting more. I'd rather cut...but my cut halves are getting fewer so that's a good thing! ENJOY! These are a mixture of Laguna's, Moctezumas, Coyamito's.... nice little Purple! A better set of Halves....the sun really fades the colors out. Love the Orange.... Brilliant Yellow, Pink and Red. One of my Favs! Pinks and light Purples Neat little Moss and Fortification Another one of my Favs! Had to hold it to get the colors to stand out! One of these days I'll get my website updated with all the rest of them. Steve the Agate Licker!

Looks like a candy store. How did you polish the slabs? Did you tumble them or did you use a flat lap?

Incredible! Love them all!
That orange one, though, is like some of the sunsets we get off the coast here. Color me green with envy!
(So, when Mel and I tackle Mexico for the Agate/Jasper Index, I take it you'll be available???)

Steve, many museums should be green with envy about your collection! Amazing pieces! And you surely have one specimen you won't find in any museum: that "I AM AN AGATE LICKER" badge ;D

Thanks you Guys! The display case was a freebie from a jewelry store...it really needs some lighting. i got another one from a Shopko that was a jewelry case with lighting, I just need to decide when I'm gonna set it up. Condor...the slabs were either bought polished or I have a friend do them for me on a flat lap. All of the little nodules I've polished on my Genie. The pictures bring out every little scratch which makes me angry!!!! Lowell...I think I can help out with the Mexican Index when it comes down to it. One more thing...my rock club wants me to do a display case for the coming show in April. It will be my 1st display case; so I'm a little nervous...but I have a couple friends that said they would help me with it. Love My Agates....Yes I do! Steve

Hey Steve (also others) - Great collection. Your Mexican Agates... Just out of curiosity what is an average for rough prices on this material. I'm a Thunderegg guy and never deal with them, however I have 80 ish pounds of mixture of Coyamito, Agua Nueva (spelling), Queensland, laguna etc... all from a collection which was probably dug years ago. Mixture of broken and yes complete untouched nodules. I actually sent 64 pounds of it with my buddy today to have him start windowing and making displays. I don't have time right now and he was bored so I let him have the honors for me! Being a dealer I know prices vary so much depending on grade of stone, but just looking for a rough idea of possible value

Jason, Do you wanna get rid of anymore?!?!?! I'm such a sucker for agates...seriously! Prices depend on where you buy them at. I've bought alot of agates from SuperAgates (Mark Boche) and his prices vary depending on grade. The last time I bought 2 lbs of the $30per lb stuff....and I was expecting a better yield, but unfortunately I didn't get what i thought. That's the big chance you take when buying Agate rough. Don't take me wrong...I have recieved some killer Agates from Mark, and you couldn't meet a nicer guy...but it's outta his control how the Agates will score. I am currently buying more agates from a fellow who is charging me 9 bucks a pound. I am buying whatever he has left...and I couldn't pass it up. I would guesstimate.....that buying them online averages between 15 and 20 dollars per pound for rough....and polished specimans can be very pricey!!! I will never be able to play with the big time collectors. they have too much $ for me to even get close to. I hardly ever part with my Agates...I love them too dearly! Steve
