Ok, I had him going over the lower elevations of the mountains, but now I'm thinking that maybe John is more daft than that and hit some high points so he could see the scenery and look out from the vistas.
I'll guess 2800 miles and 58 days.

Well friends, after a lot of days and countless guesses, somebody finally hit the number of days! Her work was not in vane, she kept shooting around the target since a few guesses ago and now she finally hit it. Jo, you're right! 47 days it is! Congratulations!
