I checked around before I ordered the Cab Mate. I even checked Kingsley North's website and couldn't find it there. I would have ordered from Kingsley North if I could have found it. There were other reasons why I canceled the order as well. I made the best decision for me. I can live with an extended delivery if I am told up front, but that wasn't the only reason I canceled. I think all around I may be better off with a flat lap anyway. I'm heading out to shop for saws now.

Got the QEP Mastercut from Home Depot. Paid $49.00. Hope it will serve my purposes as a trim saw mostly

Glad you went with the flat lap from John. I didn't want to say 'out loud' that the cab mate wouldn't have been all that great. Still, DO NOT use oil with either the flat lap or the saw. I love my Ameritool. I also got a gryphon band saw that I don't know how I ever got along without one. You can make a dop pot out of flue tin and a light bulb and a socket. Ken

Already bought the dop pot, sticks and wax. Have no intentions of using oil

I just finished cutting some slabs for cabs. Man that tile saw for $49.00 is awesome. It does throw out a lot of water like everyone said, but it was all relative. I expected this huge flood, not something that I can quickly clean up with a towel. I will be taking it outside to the garage until it gets too cold out there.

Bob,
The secret to most tub saws is to fill only to cover bottom rim of blade. If there is a blade guard you should have a drip only (unless you raise it too high). When I'm cutting tiles I'll overfill just so I can work faster and not stop to top off so often. Of course I'm already a mess anyway so the big stripe down my chest doesn't hurt.

Sandy, start a new post giving more details (what you are drilling and how you are doing it). Drilling is easy done properly with right tools.

to change the grit size pads out is it a big deal or just quick n easy?

Just a center bolt with a knob so hand tighten only. The sanding discs are peel and stick so you stick one on each backing plate, cut the center hole and you are ready. Everything has a standard 1/2"hole so any facet discs, polish discs, etc. can be used also.

so the unit then comes with enough backing plates for how many stages of grit/polish?

That will be your polishing compound. There should be a resin, or resin coated canvas disk to use it on.
