My cheap economy Ray-tech broke a couple of weeks ago. It is unfixable due to the way it is constructed and everything is siliconed together. It was so noisy because of the plastic bowls, I couldn't even run it in the garage, had to use an outside storage shed. I have two Lortone rotaries that I also run non stop. They are very quiet! The big question is, I would like to run my new vibe 24/7 in the garage. Which is quieter, the Lot-O or the UV-10? I usually run small batches but the size is irrelevant. If I go with the UV-10 I will just use a lot more ceramics. Thank you! (husband said to buy it, wrap it, and put it under the tree from him! ~Kristine

It's hard to say which is louder unlss you run them both side by side. I run a UV-10 in my basement and keep the door closed. It can barely be hear it on the first floor, and not at all on the second floor. Then again ... I'm hearing impaired fromall that rock tumbling.

Don't rule out GyRoc. At the Abilene show they had a 10lb. (Model A) running with lid off at the club booth. I only knew it was running because the rocks were moving. Interesting to me they went up and down like all vibes but also went horizontally. I couldn't hear it over the noise of the show but couldn't say how noisy in a quiet location. They had it open so kids could fish out a polished stone for free.

Googled it. The model A is a little too pricey, but I did notice that you can add a flat lap accessory to it for another $70 so that you can tumble and lap at the same time. Interesting. The model B only holds 3 lbs but it allows you to piggy back up to 3 bowls on the same machine. That's cool. I don't know anything about this vibe so I will research it a little more while waiting on feedback. Thanks John!

I don't think the Lotto or UV10 are exactly "low cost". Tools are a lot like shoes. Buy the best for the job and best you can afford. Low cost doesn't necessarily mean high quality. The impressive things to me about GyRoc are the motor is powerful enough to run an aluminum lap plate on top of the 10 lb. load on the A or add another 5 lbs. to a 2.5 lb. tumbler. Most tumblers out there use a motor rated for the load, period. The other thing I like is the two speed capability.

I have had both Gy-Roc and Lot-O, and I found the Lot-O quieter. My model-B was not too noisy, but the Model-A was louder.
I still use the Model-B from time to time. I run a mini-sonic now in place of the Lot-O, but it just worked out that way - a friend bought the Lot-O when I was moving, and I cam across a used mini-sonic at a great price before I had a chance to order a new Lot-O.
Don't forget to mount the Lot-O on a good heavy base.

So far it seems that the Lot-O is quieter. I'm leaning towards that right now. Noise is the deciding factor since I have two teenager's with bedrooms downstairs.

No new feedback. Ordered the Lot-O with an extra barrel and some extra grit and more ceramics from Rock Shed. Wish me lucK! I can't open up the box til Xmas (husband made me promise), that's going to be hard......
Guess I'll keep cutting cabs with my dremel while I wait!

Get ready by lining up an 12" square cement tile, and some stronger glue than the adhesive strips that ship with the unit.

i used a 16x8x4 cement block from the lumber yard. didn't weigh it but the recommendation is a 40 pound base for the single lot-o. get the base prepared before mounting the lot-o. it has two strips of double-sided heavy tape on the bottom of the vibrator to mount it on a base. i painted my base with good spray paint so i had a good surface to mount the vibrator on. mine is working well. just got my spare barrel yesterday so i am now using it to polish. charlie

40lbs? THANK YOU!!! I am dying, got my box today from Shawn. It's heavy! I want to open it sooo bad. I made a promise though . This is killing me! I accidentally forgot to wrap it tonight while I was wrapping presents for the kids. I think it was just an oversight but my husband said that he thinks it was intentional, whether subconscious or not. He said that if I don't wrap it tonight he will check all the tape on the box tomorrow.....Dang! I truly think that this year I am more anxious than my kids!

I love my UV-10 industrial! It's, I believe, quieter than my old mini-sonic but it's still fairly noisy. I have mine out in the shop and when the bays are open, it's pretty loud. I've never had a Lott-0 so don't know about that one....Mel

Thanks Mel, hopefully my Lot-O will produce results as amazing as your UV-10's!

My Lot-O is set up! It is unbelievably quieter than the old Raytech. It's almost as quiet as my Lortones! If I had to describe it, I would say the Raytech was a commercial pressure washer and the Lot-O is a purring cat 1 foot away from you. I bought two 16x16x2" cement landscape stepping blocks (about 2.50 each) glued them together and painted the top with laytex flat white paint. The base weighs 80lbs. Also added more adhesive to the base of the Lot-O yesterday when mounting it. Here is what it looks like: I just started it up about 30 minutes ago! My first batch is preform slabettes and some blue quartz that were giving me trouble in the rotaries. Over 50% is ceramics, probably more. I changed the lid from the red one that came with it (left side of pic) with a dog/cat food lid. I like the tab on it because I can remove it much easier to check on progress. I really like how the Lot-O opening is universal. Pretty much any canned food lid will fit on it. My next step will be looking for clear lids so that I don't even have to remove it to check on them. Here is the initial run... the grit has already turned to gravy after 30 minutes. Instead of using the recipe that came with the tumbler, I am using Conrocks. Check it out... ~Krystee

Hi I hope you enjoy the Lot"O" Conrock talked me into buying a Lot"O" 3 years ago and it is great , cuts time down and the cost of grits also brilliant machine.
The rubber barell cushions the sound a lot and with the top on that makes a big difference

Congrats on the new tumbler. Every time I hear about the LotO it sounds better and better. Glad to see you got it dialed in and running already. I liked your comment about a purring cat. That's something I will have to tell my wife. I run a minisonic which sounds like a very exited putting cat when it's up all the way. Steve

looks like good motion. I agree that 50% ceramic is ideal for preform slabbetts.
cream came up fast in only 30 minutes. You may have a softer stone or two inthere thatis making allthe cream. might have to pull that one early.
enjoy!
