ᎡᎵᏔᎻ Mike made the shaft for me quite a few years ago. I think it was under $100 shipped to me. Any good local machinist should be able to make you one. Lynn

ᎡᎵᏔᎻI made something similar a few years ago. Material was $60 online and the machinist needed $125 for his part.

I found a local machinist that sold me a threaded 6” on either side of a 1” x 36” round stock he made for $40.
Now I’m just look for a good Material to build the housing with. Would like to find some old Sintra signs but yet to locate any. So I’m looking for other options atm. If anyone knows a real good option that’s really cheap please let me know.

They are both right hand threads but I plan to use 2 nuts against each other to lock it in or will that not work?

They are both right hand threads but I plan to use 2 nuts against each other to lock it in or will that not work? It’ll work just fine. In fact, it’s easier to tighten or loosen the whole shebang - one hand on each end/nut and whether you’re tightening or loosening the nuts, your hands always oppose each other. Try it, it’s an easy motion. And there’s no need to double nut. When you snug up the nuts hand tight, there’s enough compression against all the wheels and spacers to hold them firmly. They don’t come loose. Now, half the board’s gonna scream at me and tell you how unsafe this is. Whatever. This setup’s been grindin’ for thirteen years and counting . . .no prob.

I used plastic jugs from a bakery on my cabber, pix are gone from the build thread thanks to the Nazis at Photobucket & I haven't found time to repost them... But NRG did the same with water jugs on the unit he built for jeannie, which does still have pictures on their build thread in the homemade equipment section.
