Thanks everyone.
Randy,
I am not gonna wrap it. I cut this one for a silversmith friend of mine. She is going to use it in one of her custom designs.

Very nice cab Christopher! I have a smallish piece a friend brought me from the Dominican Republic when she was visiting there. How does it work up?

Larimar has flaking issues. To minimize this, use light pressure on your rough wheels. Also if you have rough you need to slab, be sure to make your slabs thick. I try and cut mine about 10mm thick. I have had greater success of avoiding crumbling while slabbing by cutting thicker slabs. That is about all you need to look out for. Once you get to your soft wheels its smooth sailing. Larimar takes a really nice polish. Very easy to get that "wet" look with larimar.

Thanks Christopher. The piece I have is already shaped and grooved, but looks like it was literally done by hand. She said they make the pendant in front of you, and groove wrap it. She told him she just wanted the stone, and he didn't know what to say lol. It's a sloppy shaped piece with flat spots all over it, so I'll probably just re-shape then re-sand & polish it.

Larimar is Pectolite. This particular color of Pectolite is only found in the Dominican Republic.
Not too long ago I saw a claim that it was found somewhere else, I am not sure if I remember right but I think it was Brazil or Peru. From the photos I seen I looked different that the D.R. material. I have not seen any more mention of it so I imagine that either it wasn't what they claimed or the material wasn't any good.

There was a blue material from Peru that was supposedly also a pectolite (or so I heard). I think it was sold under the name 'Perumar'. Not much came out, and I haven't seen it in Peru lately except a couple cabs, so I don't think there is any current production.
It was a similar blue color, but the figure was much different from the Dominican stuff... more of a wavy striped pattern to it. I had a couple cabs at one point, but I think all the good ones sold, otherwise I'd post a picture... There is a fellow on ebay that sells it, but he asks silly prices for it, which is probably why he still has it...
