Hello All
I am called Jim by most people and the other names can not be posted here but it was not my fault (honest). I have been stealing knowledge here for a couple of weeks and thought it might be time to introduce myself. North central Wyoming (Greybull) is my home now and I am trying to make the best of it. This is a rock hounds paradise and since I am retired I have spent hundreds of days roaming the hills and mountains around here picking up stones and fossil. In the winter I make stone (mostly agate and petwood) jewelry and stone and sagebrush art. I am expanding to sagebrush and cedar tables. I have contracted gold fever so now my summers are spent "prospecting" (as apposed to "picking up gold"). I will post a few photos when I figure out how.
I have identified a lot of the stones I have found but still have many that have me stumped. I will be asking for help (a little at a time) and will greatly appreciate your input. I spent 10 months in China learning about and carving stone. I will pass on any knowledge on any questions that come up on things that I am familiar with. The rule of thumb is "if it came from China it is probably fake". They are masters of fake and most of the people there can not tell the difference.
Every stone that I have is for sale or for free depending on its value. If I have something that has no value but someone would like to have it I will ship it if they will pay the shipping fee. From what I have seen here this is a friends take care of friends sight and I hope that I can be a part of that. My daughter teaches seventh grade students with learning disabilities and those kids really liked my rock class. I was told that the students payed more attention to my class than any other class they had attended. Because of this interest I will ship any of my stones to teachers that would like to have them for their class. Me paying the shipping will depend on how many requests I get. I will do as much as I can. I will be posting a few things at a time so keep your eye balls peeled if you are an interested teacher. I have a few fossils that I will include in this.
Well, that is me. I will be looking forward to chatting and sharing with ya'll.
Jim
