I'm really going to try to get there Saturday night. It will be a long day of driving ~16 hours. Group meals would definitely make things easier. I'll volunteer for pancakes and bacon for breakfast for one day. We could do oatmeal, too. I have 2 coffee makers: an espresso pot and a single mug French Press. I may have a single serve drip maker, but I'll have to look. At any rate, I don't really have a coffee pot. I've got 3 Coleman 2-burner stoves, but I'll just bring the big one. I'll also bring a single burner stove. The washtub should work fine, provided we don't get the fire too hot. Pack lunch and dinner in Alpine after WWR sounds good. I don't know whether I mentioned this, but there used to be a rock shop south of WWR. Do we want to try to hit another ranch through Teri (?) at Antelope Lodge? I'm okay, either way. Maybe we can play it be ear and if Stillwell isn't yielding enough material we can arrange something. I don't have a 4WD vehicle, so maybe we can ride in the back of somebody's truck for that part of the trip. I started packing last night. Chuck

I can bring a coffee maker (just bought one for the house and kept the box and packing if needed for the trip). Jeri and I are trying to come up with a fire ring, there is a 24 inch steel "wash pan" at work if nothing else I will buy that. One thing I want to bring up: If you have knee pads you might throw them in, I brought mine the first trip and wore them to protect me from the cactus, yucca, and what ever other sharp plant. They came in handy to get into areas other people wouldn't go into. Btw have been watching the temps at both wwr and Stillwell. It was 90 at Stillwell today so bring all kinds of clothes as the nights have been in the 40s.
You might beat us in Allen, we are stopping for Friday night at Wichita Falls, we will be getting there pretty late so not sure what time we will start out. Call me as you get close (and can) think you have the number and I can give you our status.

It's driving me crazy sitting here listening to you guys planning for WWR. I almost decided to try to make it, but, not this year. Mark, if you guys find any good red plume agate, send me a piece. Hell, for that matter, send me a small flat rate box along with a bill. Have fun guys, I'll be around the campfire with you(in spirit), watch out for Hoobla!

Gods Ed, would love it if you could be there. Will set up a lawnchair recliner outside the tent even though One of my greatest memories is our talks at WWR long after everyone else had gone to bed. I'll find you something and send it I did outstanding last year with red plume (barely cut any of it yet ) apart of you will be there though, my ring will return. Call when ever.

Oh man that sounds like fun, last year was a blast even if I was sick the whole trip. Nothing like a nice group meal at night, the one night we had pork tenderloin roast (that was simmered in apple juice all day) Mark's homemade french fries, Jeri's baked beans, mixed vegs and cheesecake for desert was one of my favorites. (now I am hungry) Have fun and find lots of pretty rocks. Donna

Found a area I want to explore at Stillwell tonight. checkout the depression (I think, if not so much the better) under the road triangle.

That looks good, Mark. I'm pretty sure I climbed up to the top from the north side of that bluff last time I was there, but didn't have the energy to go down the south side, which was steep. Of course, that would make it a better place to look. If you go farther east, there is a series of ridges/valleys that should also be productive. Look around here: 29.648852,-103.067787 maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&rlz=1C1GGGE_en___US381&q=29.648852,-103.067787&gs_upl=&ix=seb&ion=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=873&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl Chuck

I bought a campfire ring today... Figured if Stillwell does have one we can use, then I can always return the one I bought. If you are planning to use an electric heater in your tent, bring a HEAVY DUTY extension cord just for the heater. Don't want any tent fires! ONLY 5 DAYS TIL WE LEAVE FOR TX!!!Later, jeri

Jeri and I might go down into Big Bend one afternoon later in the week for some sight seeing btw.
Donna, Yeah it was great, seemed like every time I turned around the meal(s) were either already done or nearly. Will make up for that if I can ever get over your way.
What I posted is certainly not a have to, just looked like a good area to play in. And if I remember right was close to where I found some decent Fire agate.
Can't wait to get there.
Mark

Well Darn Allen! Was hoping to meet you! Spike and I will be on the same route as Hard Rock. So we won't be traveling anywhere near you. Thanks for the offer though! I was looking forward to the smell of mesquite. Perhaps next year. Later, jeri
