Awesome cab Ted. Krystee, what a spectacular shine on that cab! Are you sure you don't run a body shop & throw them cabs in while they're spraying the clear!?! ;D My God, if that ain't a sure selling point for Woody's leather belts, nothing is! I better get off my arse and get my cab done! Sure have some work cut out for me! Nate

Roy, where are you? ?? Are you going to show your cab as last minute surprise? Ted: Love that you do this kind of shape. Unusual color and nice layout.

I'll play since the weather was finally warm enough to cab this week. My slab 3 preforms 3 cabs and I think I will enter this one in the contest: thanks for the fun. Amy

Being relatively new to cabbing, ok really new, and rocks in general I was planning on just watching from the side lines. However I have learned that ther is more to learn by doin than just watchin. So here I go. Being an ex marine I have been conditioned to always try to always exceed my expectations in the things that I do. So with that in mind I chose this slab witch I beleive to be either Agua Nueva Agate or Laguna Agate (I will have to check my records). The slab measures 5"x 2.75" and it has some really nice color and banding going on around a really nice big druzy. My challenge is to cut a cab from this slab that preserves as much of the beautiful pattern as posible and at the same time do so in a shape that is pleasing to the eye. If I suceed the resultant cab will be a giant 3"x2". I am posting two pictures of the slab with slightly different outlines. If any of you have a preference of one over the other please let me know. As I have been looking at this slab for two days and a fresh perspective would be surely welcome. I know that there are a lot of nubes like myself out there . Don't be apprehensive throw your dop stick into the rink and have some fun. I also know of at least one ex marine out there as well and I expect to see you in this competion!! LOL Stu PICTURE 1 THE SLAB BLACK OUTLINE SLAB2 BLACK OUTLINE TOP AND BOTTOM SILVER LINES ON SIDES Which one looks better? Thanks Stu THE PREFORM THE FINISHED CAB 3" X 2" BACK LIT A SHOT WITH SOME REFLECTION I want to wish everyone the best of luck. Everyones entries look really great and I want to thank Don for having this contest. It is a lot of fun Stu

Here's my entry. This is Carnival Agate from Illinois. I picked up this piece while rock hunting with Ted a few weeks ago. To me this is the holy grail of cab cutting - going from self collected rough to finished cab. I enjoy this immensely! Thank you for hosting this comp, Don. It's a lot of fun! I knew the rough looked a littlel mossy, but wow, what a surprise! Here's the 2nd slab off the rock, and the one I used for this competition. preform cut Finished cab: Artificial light Natural light Side view showing dome Thanks for looking, Nate

Hey Nate, I agree, it must be so rewarding to go out and collect a rock and then transform it into such a thing of beauty. Stu
