Not only pictures, but history of the area where they're found, maps of collecting areas, and info on how they were formed. The best books ever written on the subject of Fairburn agates.
The USPS scores again. My newest book was processed through the sorting facility in Bell Gardens, California on the 12th of Dec., and seems to have fallen off the map. Opened a case with USPS yesterday. I sure hope they can track it down. I've been trying to find a copy for at least 2 years. It's not an easy book to find for sale, and expensive when you do find one.

After well over 2 years of searching, I finally got a copy of Roger Clark's first book on Fairburn agates. These aren't easy critters to find for sale.

Not looking like much right now. It's in a 48 hour warm acid bath, and will look much better when finished.

AH yes. Obsession. The fixation and facination that you can hear LAUGHING should you try to reason it out of your life... That obsession then says :nono: and you apologize to your obsession, and you wonder what you could have been THINKING! I too obsess! I get dizzy over JASPER! Not the red or brown banded stuff, no. Rainbows and Agatized, colors and patterns that are simply unlike any other you will find. Jasper that you cut open and find a fractured jigsaw with blue agate bonding it together. Paisley like red/orange/yellow swirls that would make hippies faint, random paint spatter, and unbelievable tangles that show just how incredible an artist God must be. Oh, were it possible, and I were given my teen ages back, I would have a warehouse. The workshop at one end, the rest a cavern of displays, two stories and ever growing, close by the desert. My obsession would rule my existance, and history would record me as "The man who apparently liked jasper. A LOT!" Feed your obsession. View the obsession! BUT! don't let it keep you from you know, eating, or other things that are deemed important, like the KIDS, the WIFE, GROOMING, etc. but heck yeah OBSESS! ;D Very nice display! As for the online bidding, let me guess: When you win, people know it before you tell them, when you lose, sometimes you berate the screen, and possibly people know it before you tell them.... I cannot bid. I am one who will "HAVE IT" far beyond what it might be worth, as I have no self control except when racing. Sort of. A TOAST! To: Our obsession, May it be just as obsessed with us. ;D

Only once have I let my obsession get the best of me. I look at an item I like. I set in my mind the amount I'm willing to pay for that item. Then without making a bid I watch the item. If it doesn't go over the amount I've set, I put my top amount in 30 seconds before the bid ends. At 6 seconds I confirm my bid. Just early enough to make my bid count, but too late for someone to up my bid.

NOW THAT is a cool trick! But that requires you to have to schedule the bid close dates/times etc. so that you can be "on site" yah?
I knew a person who was really into ebay as well as the "QBID" sites. Very vocal, very animated, often entertaining. He lost a few bids last second style. THAT was fun to watch. I wonder if he ever learned something like that? Bidding sometimes gets furious over "hot" items.
WELL! Don't know if I should try bidding fire agate, but mebbee I will peruse the action.
sideways to topic, "Shipping Wars" (basic cable reality program) they bid on transport of odd/unorthodox items, using the "last minnit" trick, only the cost for shipping, and it's low bid to win. Funny stuff.
good stuff this thread! luck to all your bids! ;D

No problem on the schedule. I'm retired. Over the last 3 days I've bid on and won 4 of the 5 Fairburns I was after.
Shipping wars doesn't interest me. I'd rather watch Storage Wars or American Pickers.

tornados wont effect your home. All the agates will weigh it down and stabilize it from the wind! This one looks like it is a set of lips singing to us. "Hey Dooonnnn....... "
