I think you said it all. I keep telling myself that I'm going to drop off ebay, pay off paypal and cancel them. I keep telling myself that I need to save money, instead of buying another rock or book about rocks.
I've tried the 3 step method. I've taken the first step of admitting I'm a rockahaulic. I've tried going cold turkey. The withdrawal symptoms are just too strong. I find myself buying " Just one more rock ". Then another, and another, and another.

I canceled my direct TV satalite, so I can buy more rocks. I have a nice job and it pays well, but it is not rocks. <sigh> just have to face the facts. Rocks are addictive.

Finshing! or the lack of it says it all...so many projects so little time...and it only gets worse every year...
I have too many grinder setups ...but I still want a flat lap...
I have how mant tumblers ... and none of them are running
How many pounds of rock and I want more
How many slabs but I need more
Should I work on silver or lapidary today?
When am I going to find time to golf?

The only reason I sell any rocks is to buy more rocks, otherwise I would keep them all for myself. If I won the lottery I would just drive around buying rocks until the money ran out.

I over exaggerated compared to some of you guys are buried under rocks! but I do capicé on the original rant of this thread its easy to let the rocks get ahead of, perhaps, more important matters something I don't have to worry about...

I was able to get all the rough out of the house, but then the garage was full, so I moved it into the yard so I had a place to work in the garage. Now my yard is filling up with rocks... And there are rocks back in the house.

I share your dilemas and often ask myself WHY? Fortunately, Laura found me a refrigerator magnet that allows me to ground myself in times of doubt. It simply says ...
BECAUSE I`M A ROCKHOUND. THAT`S WHY.
I wish I could send you all one.
Darryl.

I'll tell ya, I have enjoyed reading what my fellow compadras have to say on this matter. And here I thought I was in a boat by myself Lol. Thanks Greg for starting this thread. Gives us a chance to vent our lack of time frustrations. Daniel said something there! Sometimes it's the journey (for me) that is the pleasure. Like hounding! For me, it's the thrill of the find when you can say "Ooooh Man, look at this! Then all these ideas start going thru your mind of what you can do with this. Then you come home and put it with all the other ideas. You know, on the bench that's 12" deep with ideas and want to do's. It's becoming a journey of focusing on, zeroing in on the important pieces that I want to do. When I first started working rocks, I went hounding and brought home everything. I didn't know there were leverites out there Lol. So, no stress Greg, enjoy the ride and get to em when ya can!
