You've never purchased rocks on Ebay? Good, that means I won't have to ever worry about outbidding you. ;D lol ...honestly, you don't know what you're missing. There's good stuff on there... usually

its called crazy lace, and while the pattern is very nice, it is not that rare. the pieces are also smallish. maybe the $6 to $8 price for good crazy lace might got to $14 for a very nice lot, but $20 is ridiculousness.

It is a bit pricey, but I see some bad@ss cabs in there. One good cab could pay for the lot

It may be crazy lace... but that's some pretty remarkable colors if it is. I've not seen pastel colored crazy lace, it's usually more primary colors. Not pinks, lavenders, salmons, blues.
There looks like maybe 10 amazing cabs there, and some extras too. Those are gorgeous patterns, even if small (but not interesting to a slab collector:P)

Well, Daniel, you collect slabs... for a cabber, those little ones save cutting time:).

still, I pretty much avoid buying slabs for more than 110% of their value. it leads to irrational exuberance and a dysfunctional market.
I would be more sympathetic if someone really wanted this and bit it up over value. I am somehow annoyed that the seller presumed to start it so high. but it is a free country.
as for size, I almost totally disagree. You can use the whole slice, or make a cab that is like 90% of the slice, but the shape will likely be heavily constrained by the slabbett.
this is "craft" and has little "art" in it. without a larger area to allow a talented eye to freely choose the shape and the composition, it is an abdication. still might look nice, and occasionally the found/natural object is art, but generally not making a decision is more crafty than artistic. IMO.

On eBay "rare" means "ordinary", just like "bad" sometimes means good. The seller did however forgot to use the terms, "old stock" and "estate", but the use of "pseudomorph" makes up for that lapse.

yesh, instead of saying "high quality crazy lace" or even "exceptional", I think it is kinda skamish to describe it as "rare psuedomorph"

Well, I agree it is expensive.... but I look at what Don and others pay for a fairburn that isn't any prettier, and I don't think $20 for 12 pieces of gorgeous pattern is all that expensive... that one in the middle front is gorgeous!!
Are you sure it's crazy lace??? It doesn't look like crazy lace to me...

Sorry I posted, then ran, lol! My husband is taking some classes, and has taken over my computer. Anyway...
Randy, it's true - you do not have to worry about bidding against me. I have made other types of purchases on eBay, but not rocks. I either find them myself, or I get them at rock shows, rock club sales, raffle prizes, estate sales, swap meets, and, of course, Quartzsite.
It is just too easy to spend money on eBay. My last big online purchase, just a month ago, was new rear axles for our old Ranger. (And I still have to pay for them!) Jean

There is a reason he hasn't put a ruler or a coin in the picture - he doesn't want you to realize how small the pieces are. It would take 35 to 40 pieces of that stuff just to fill a 3 lb tumbler barrel! And the shipping is $9.75! Randy might be right about "One Killer Cab", but I'll put my $30 on a 25 lb MFR box sold by someone I trust on this forum.

It's a total of a pound. Not that much. Small pieces.

Yeah, a ruler or coin in a photo would have been too obvious, showing how small they are. So all combined, they weigh a pound, you could hold them all in one hand. I just thought they were some pretty neat looking rocks.
And I agree with Daniel - I've always hated how they overuse those words - rare, vintage, old stock, estate, etc. I was actually searching the word pseudomorph (for something else) that landed me on this sale.
I only hope whoever gets it is happy with it, and at least one piece is big enough to do something with. Jean

I would skip it just because they are not pseudomorphs. It would be interesting to ask the seller pseudomorph after what?

Maybe he means it's a pseudomorph of a rare agate. In other words, not a rare agate, but a pseudomorph of one -- a rare-agate pseudomorph. It's two words, not three -- he forgot the hyphen.
