Thanks Jan and Mario!!
Here's how it went in, and yes, it's pretty jammed:P.
Slabs packed- got all I wanted to send in there:
Tumbles and slabettes - could not fit all I planned to, so the numbers got cut in 1/2, but are still a good variety:
Specimens- Lowell's huge rose is going, and I got all the Florida calcite specimens in cept for the big fossil clam section. I thought someone could slice it up (was over 1/2" thick) because the shell was built up in rings that look like polish flint... but it won't fit:).
The goody box (SFRB inside the MFRB). I got 4 packages of shells in there for those who like them, I picked em on my one and only 'rockhounding' excursion to Tampa (hehe):
Here is everything labeled and organized and boxed up:
And ready to close (the box up top is for Lowell, we're doing a trade):
So this is partly packed box (w/ Jan & Mario's donations, slabs, goody box, specimens):
Here it is with the small blue bags of preform/slabettes and tumble/small specimens:
And because Jan asked, I'm including these 4 small bags of glass tumbles:
AND, I found something Jim was looking for from the last box!!! Jim made this beautiful red Wyoming Jasper Cab, and even grooved it for wrapping. I remember he said it was meant for someone... but I forgot who!! So I'm putting it back in this box, and Jim can let us know. Please don't take it til he says who it was meant for:P.
And... the box is ready to seal:)!
It's going out on Jan 3rd, 2013, right on schedule:).
Few notes:
1. I pillaged Lowell's opal from Jan  . I wanted 2 if I wanted to cab for earrings. I figure Lowell wouldn't be mad at me because he's trading me some opals anyway:P. I hope that there's enough goodies in the box for Lowell not to mind too much:P. ;D
2. Alisha, box got packed already, BUT! You are first, of those who didn't call dibs, so you can take #13 anyway:P.
3. Shoot for 2 day turnaround please, ETA for the box to arrive with you will be roughly 4 days from the time the last person receives it.
4. You can take ANYTHING YOU LIKE from the box. ANYTHING not specifically labeled for someone else, or meant 1 per person (as with the Staurolite and Opals from Jan. If there are more than 1 piece, then be nice to the people after you, they deserve to see a variety too:).
5. EQUAL VALUE, please. NO LEAVERITES! If you could not sell it, leave it right in your garage:P. If you take nice little items, please replace with nice little items.
If you have no little items, replace with super nice/rare slabs or something you made, so those who come after you have a nice box too!
If your items are small, and you take big things, please fill the space with stuffing so the contents don't get demolished from banging around, and the next person doesn't get a box of loose broken things.
6. Pack TIGHT and carefully please. These are sharp rocks, and if you cannot drop one item on top of something in that area, one of them is going to break.
7. Please keep the items smaller (2-3" diameter tops) if possible (except for slabs, which are flat). Some people don't have saws, and this is the Newbie box after all, so it would be better for people to see lots more little things than a few big rocks, even if they are beautiful big rocks:).
8. I hope you guys take some time to enjoy looking through the box... there's so much in there that if you are rushed, you are going to miss things:). I hope you all enjoy it as much as I always do!
I love detail, so I really enjoy gazing at the minutiae, and will wet every single rock before I put it back in the box or snag it:P. Maybe not everyone is as nuts as me that way, but there's enough STUFF in the box that it will keep you occupied for some hours just to look at it all:P.
That's it!! It ships on Thurs, Jan 3rd 2013 . ;D ;D ;D ;D
