This is the 2nd Traveling Newbie Box 2012!!
The point of this box:
1. help fill in the gap of what we need or don't have to kick us further along in the hobby.
2. learn a bit more about each other and make friends who share the same crazy obsession we have too!!
What's IN the Box?:
this is a newbie box, and only a few people have a saw, let's limit the contents to slabs, small specimen rocks, nice tumble-sized stones (that can be split in 1/2 and cabbed too), jewelry (cabs, wraps, findings, stuff you made, etc). No larger than 2" diameter whole rocks to cut, too bulky.
I will update THIS post with changes - where the box is, link to the photos from each person, just like last box:).
Box Size:
The box will be a Med Flat rate box, shipping will cost everyone $11.35 PLUS TRACKING (every box MUST be tracked, with tracking posted).
How it Works:
Each person on the shipping list who receives the box goes through the box (taking pix of the total contents for posting), take what you like out of the box, pix of what you are putting in to replace what you took out.
Post the photos on the forum, along with the tracking # for the next person on the list so everyone can track them.
Photos are Required!! We want everyone to get a chance to see what you got, what you are taking, what you are adding, to build excitement:).
Need to Post:
a. Complete Box Contents
(just open everything and spread it out and shoot a clear pix)
b. Group shot of what you are taking out
c. Group shot of what you are putting in
d. Box ready to ship before sealing (so we can compare condition in case it arrives wrecked)
- more pix are more fun of course, but you MUST post the above so there's no 'where's this item' type questions later
Link to Dora's Tutorial on How to Use Photobucket (post if you have other questions): forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Pictures&thread=56340
This repeats for each person, with the idea that we are all going to see items in the box we may have not seen before and will be a lot of fun:).

Rules:[/u][/size]
Posting Photos and Tracking #s
1. 48 turnaround time is what we are shooting for. That is 48 hours from the time you get the box, you should get the box back out. Delays and emergencies happen, but lets try to keep it moving along, because there is also shipping time to think of, and everyone wants to see the box sooner rather than later:).
2. What can I take out? You can take out ANYTHING in the box not addressed to someone else specifically. BUT! for the sake of the people after you, if there are multiples, take only ONE so those after can see something from everyone ahead of them. Exception to this is if there are enough for those still to come and there are extra.
3. What can you put in? EQUAL OR GREATER VALUE to what you took out. If no one would buy it, don't put it in the box please, this is meant to be a quality box from start to finish. If you do not have a replacement of equal size, put in padding (ie., you take out slabs, replacing with cabs). Be fair, people after you deserve nice things too.
Newbies with few rocks can replace with small stands or something small you make of equal value. Part of the fun of this box is to show others what you make/have. We're all going for a little bit of WOW value for the people down the line!
4. Please label. Because this is a newbie box, people may not know what they are looking at, so just stick a piece of masking tape (or label) and write in what you put in and your name), on the bag/piece/box. This makes it easier for those down the line to ID it, and if it gets damaged, we know what it was to begin with, and who it came from.
5. Do not over-stuff the box. If you have more to put in, take more out. The last box grew HUGE (from Med to Large), then split into 2 (Large AND Med). While that's really awesome, you aren't taking enough if you have to do that, lets keep it to 1 med box:P.
Traditionally, the box gets better and better to help offset the patience of those further down the list for waiting longer.
6. PM the person next on the list for their shipping address when you get the box. If you have the box, it's your responsibility to get it to the next person. If you cannot reach the next person, I will try to reach them too (As host, I have contact info for all participants).
That's it:). This should be LOTS of fun with goodies for all:).
Personal Privacy:
No one needs your address except the person immediately before, who ships to you (contact next person for addy when you receive the box). Only the tracking # is posted, which will list your city/state if someone checks the tracking (should be on your forum info anyway).
HOWEVER, as the box 'mom', you must pm me your email, address, as well as a way to contact you quickly (cell phone # preferably). I will only contact you if the box disappears, or it's your turn and you do not respond to PM's from the person shipping to you for the address.
