Hey Y'all! Just a real early heads up. The Ventura/Oxnard/Conejo clubs are hosting this year's CFMS Show Fri-Sun May 31 - June 2nd. I would love to be able to set up an get together! I haven't been able to get out into the field much this year and am cringing at missing the Arizona rock hunts....but maybe a few of us SoCal and NoCal folk can get together to talk and gawk. Here's the link: www.cfms2013.com/Lowell

Bumping this thread back to the "latest topics". Looks like it might be Nathaniel and I. Andrew has a sports camp that Saturday (the only day I can get out there).

I'll be there all day Saturday with two friends. I'll try to remember to wear my RTH T shirt! Just look for me digging through every slab bucket and pile of rough . . .
What do you look like Lowell? I've seen pictures of Paul and have met Christopher. Will you be hanging out at any particular location most of the day?

I book marked one of Lowell's older threads from a trip report of his up to the Cadys (http://forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=37240). There's a photo of him in there.

I was sort of thinking that a 2-3 hour drive up to Ventura is going to be looonnggg ... but then again, it's not as far as Davis ! Hope things are going well, Dee!

I'll call it a maybe. depends on the weather. If it's cool I will be doing honey-dos in the garage. If it's too hot, then an air-conditioned truck ride seems pleasant!

I recall you mentioning that this was a tough year. Andrew and Nathaniel are done in about three weeks or so. I think they're FINISHED. @shotgunner: Hopefully, we'll see you up there!

We are wait to see when UCLA wants us up there to put Joshua's stint in. They are suppose to call today. Lori called first thing this morning but the person was away from their desk. Once I know I will confirm here. doesn't look like Ventura is going to happen this year...at least not Saturday...

We'll see you all shortly. Packing up the boys for a full day. We figured on stopping at the beach since it's right next door as well. Show first, beach second, dinner in Ventura!
Christopher - hope that procedure goes smoothly. My best to you and your family.

I'm glad this post got bumped up. I've been either too under the weather (double ear infection recently) or too wrapped up in the year end testing to focus too much on my favorite hobby.
For those interested - I'll be working in the silent auction throughout the day, but I'll also be wandering around talking to all the vendors and guests. As for my photo - well, I carefully pick only the most flattering shots.....so in real life I'll be a little more frumpy.....
I'm wearing a brown striped shirt and jeans and will have a yellow volunteer badge around my neck.
Agate lovers should check out Thomas Wolfe Minerals - they have petrified wood and all sorts of nodules from Dryhead to Mexican.
There is the source dealer for Argentinian agates - Condor (plus rough), Puma, Snow, Crater (plus rough), Pategonian. Incredible supply of the person who brings it up from S. America. From smaller specimens to more $$$ display pieces.
Diamond Pacific
There is a newer dealer who has a large collection of iris and turtleback material for sale. I believe his business is called Faultline.
Several fossil dealers (not my thing)
Some local rough.
Lots of minerals.
Beautiful location at the fairgrounds right by the beach.
I am looking forward to actually having the time and energy to get back on this forum. It's been a while and I miss it.
Hopefully will see some of you at the show!
Lowell

We just got back from the show. AWESOME setup! Really enjoyed it. Got to meet Lowell (elementary) and Susan (Bluesky) and spent way too much money. Lowell pointed out a dealer that specialized in Argentinian agates and I ended up buying a lot of rough. Will post photos later. The boys spent a great deal of time in the children's section which was really well put together and Andrew helped me in the silent auction. Overall terrific setup. As Lowell mentioned, it's right next to the beach so we spent a hour or so there as well. And the Amtrak trains run by there so Nathaniel got to see four Amtrak trains go by. Finally, Barbara got to do some geocaching as well. Terrific trip - something for everyone!
Lowell - great meeting you and your cases were beautiful. Thanks for posting the notification! Had to leave or else overdraw my bank account LOL!
Susan - great meeting you!
