LOL. No, the noise of the velcro on the camera case bothers him.

First try with the new copy stand and photo lights. Need to work more on focus and getting rid of shadows. Blue Kyanite crystal spray. Minas Gerais, Brazil. Note the unusual reverse S bent crystal at lower left.--- I just ordered a spray of the rarer black Kyanite.

Yes it is Jan. This is the specimen I ordered. www.ebay.com/itm/321363492724?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649The pics are washed out by the sellers lights. The 3rd pic starts to show the black color. Hopefully when it arrives, I'll be able to show the true colors in a pic. Now I'm looking for a nice spray in the green color. The metaphysical folks are buying up the nice sprays to break into smaller pieces to sell as "healing stones", and what not. The black specimen looks like it could use a bit more cleaning. I'll decide which side is the best display, and try my mini soda blaster on the opposite side first. If it doesn't do any damage, I'll clean both sides.

That's a very nice kyanite specimen you recently purchased, jakesrocks, and it looks like a bundle of sprays. Have noticed that the metaphysical aspect of gems and xtals has really taken off and more folks seemed interested in it.

Have noticed that the metaphysical aspect of gems and xtals has really taken off and more folks seemed interested in it. Problem with the metaphysical folks is, lots of nice specimens get broken down into smaller pieces so they can make more bucks. Also, they're driving up the prices for us real mineral collectors. And they're starting to sell lots of slag glass as metaphysical minerals.

That's not good to hear that they are breaking specimens to sell. I remember seeing a thread on the forum about some of the odd materials that some sellers were trying to pass off as having metaphysical properties, jakesrocks, maybe it was slag glass?

Jan, I couldn't find the thread you're talking about, but here's an article coming from New Zealand that mentions several fake healing stones that are making the rounds. www.hetties.co.nz/shop/page.php?page=20I think the stones mentioned in an earlier thread are called Monotomic Andara Crystals. Here's what Mindat has to say about them. www.mindat.org/mesg-55-291045.html

Many thanks for the links, jakesrocks! Yep, I remember the andara crystal discussion. Did you get a chance to take any pics over the weekend?
