I wish I had a UV cabinet, so I could take pics of the UV sensitive specimens I have. Especially my radioactive specimens.

ROFL! I was going to suggest making a fluorescent display with an old fish tank, but... Always enjoy your specimens, Don, and looks like there's several more beauties I haven't heard (and probably cannot pronounce their names either) of that you recently acquired and must research.

LOL. I'll be bidding on 6 more tonight Jan. My favorite ebay seller knows me by name now, and always throws in a freebie mineral or 2 with my order. If it's something I already have, it gets passed on to the daughter of one of our members.

Hi, jakesrocks! My ESP is 'telling me' that you lost one bid and we'll be seeing some more killer TN specimens you won... (actually I cheated and read it somewhere ) That's awesome that you receive freebie specimens!! Congratulations on your wins! I hope it won't be long before we'll see some fluorescent mineral pics, too!!

LOL. Still waiting on the company to ship the UV unit.
One of the minerals won't be displayed. It's fused silica glass. Perfect for making doublets. The glass will fluoresce a nice shade of blue though, so I may experiment with it.
Gotta buy a big hunk of black felt and have my wife stitch up a cover with a camera hole for me. I don't have any rooms that can be made completely dark,so a cover over the light is the next best thing.

Oh, by the way Jan, I have my next 6 minerals picked out to bid on. Guy had 19 in my starting price range, but only 6 that I didn't already have.

Don, that's sweet that your wife is going to make a cover for your camera hole! Has she been for a ride with you in your new car? I think y'all would have a blast sight seeing on a Sunday afternoon. Will be lookin' for your new specimens soon!

I'm just getting ready to shoot pics of my latest. Should have them up this afternoon.
As long as I make the pattern for her, my wife can stitch up just about anything. But she's useless at making her own patterns.
She hasn't been for a ride in it yet. Been having a lot of rain. Roads are muddy. It's no fun crawling under the car to wash mud off of all of that shiny painted metal.

That's a beautiful uvarovite garnet TN, jakesrocks. Do you have any idea what the host rock might be? edited--really like the sylvite and halite specimen, too. Tried to sneak one in on us. Just kiddin' with you.

Photobucket is slow Jan. I can only post one at a time. I have to edit in each new specimen.
With a little bidding luck, I'll have more on Saturday.

Don, have you tried tinypic.com? You don't have to set up account if you don't want to, but I think they provide registration so you may keep your pics. I usually just upload from the site onto forums which don't have uploading for photos. It has captcha text that you have to enter before you can upload pics to keep the spammers away. Those are very nice specimens that you added. Will have to check for info on kleinite since I've never heard of it.

Got 20 new specimens coming, and 5 more to bid on tonight. First specimen will be here today. Pic this evening.
Most specimens that are coming are rare to very rare types. A couple from the best location will no longer be available due to a collapse in the mine stope they were coming from. Also 1 neat pseudomorph coming.

My tabletop UV light came today. A Gelman Model 51438 SW & LW UV light. Rocker switch on front controls wave length. Indicator lights on top. Left is SW. Right is LW. Filter glass is almost like new. Lot of life left in it. Gonna take some camera practice, but I should soon be posting pics of my UV reactive minerals.
