Wow,that ain't no home made rig. What a fine looking piece of machinery.Impulse buy huh?How exciting.Wish i had a cab machine.I look at them and have controlled my"impulse".I have wondered if those long motor shafts ever get bent of if the grit gets in the motor bearings.Glad you didn't have to pay the new price!

Looks to be in really good shape with lots of life left in the wheels. It appears to have a homemade drip system installed, not too sure how that works but I prefer drip to spray any day. Oh and a good price too, nice pick up.

What a great buy, Chuck! At least if you're going to get sucked in, get sucked in by something great like this. I think you will be a happy man!
Agree with Tony on the drip. I've never liked the bubblers, too much chance for contamination. Jean

I would have bought it, and I am not really fond of Genies

I figure for a quick hookup I will just suspend a bucket of water higher than the genie to gravity feed the water till I figure out what type of pump is required to feed water from a bucket on the ground.
thanks again chuck

Chuck, that is awesome! Congrats. I have no doubt that you will love it.
I will break convention and say i personally love the bubblers versus drip. I have a drip system on my lortone and i get soaked and frozen every time i use it
The spitter/bubblers are nice for working indoors and i have not seen any contamination at all.
Give the drip system a try, i rigged mine up with a fountain pump from ace and it is fairly self-contained, but it had to stay in the garage and is nearly useless in the winter.
Either way, as long as the bearings and everything is good that is a great find.
Have fun!

Congrats!
Yep, a fountain pump is the ticket. Pet stores (e.g. Petsmart) sometimes carry them.

What a deal!
The pump that came with my MK-170 tile saw is for outdoor water gardens. I tried (not so successfully) hooking it up to pump only from a bucket of clean water, instead of recycling the water in the pan.
You should be able to find that type of pump anywhere that sells plants or other supplies for water gardens. Also any place that sells fish for outdoor ponds. They are submersible pumps that are intended to recycle the water. If you did that with your Genie I think you would get cross-contamination. Put the pump in a bucket of clean water, and drain the dirty water into another bucket.
Connect the gangs to each other in a loop so that each petcock gets equal pressure (if you're dripping more than one wheel at a time). You can get the tubing at a hardware store, but you might need to buy 10 or 15 feet or more. If you can find the right diameter at a pet store, you can usually buy it by the foot. (measure the diameter of the tubing you'll need before you go to buy it, it all looks the same at the store. ;D )
Oh yea, one more problem I had to figure out. Right before the water in-line connects to the gangs, you need a "T" and a line back to the bucket. Put an inline shutoff in that line. That's how you control back pressure on the pump. The pump is made to work with no back pressure. That's the "gross" pressure control. The petcocks at each wheel are the "fine" controls. You have to open the return line all the way if you shut off all the other petcocks. Otherwise you have to keep unplugging the pump.

Nice score on the Genie, it doesn't appear to be used very much. The mods for a drip system solve the problem of the bubble and cross contamination.

My husband inherited a rock machine his dad made in the sixties or early seventies. It is plumbed to hook up to a garden hose, and has a separate petcock control for each wheel. It has not been used in this century, but my husband said when he used it as a kid, it worked great. Someday will get it up and running again. Jean

Wow, none of the paint is burnt off the motor yet and the wheels look "barely" used. It looks practically new!! You did real good, that's an awesome score!!

Sometimes you just gotta trust your gut and jump. You landed on both feet with this one!!!! I love mine and paid a lot more than that for it!!! Looks like the wheels have a good amount of life left and like you may have a custom made drip system that is probably incredible! I'm looking forward to seeing some first cabs off of this one! Great deal and wonderful price on it! ENJOY!!!!!
