Coffee black,the stronger the better....Got hooked on strong coffee in the "Hobo" jungles around Utah when I was hitch hiking as a lad....Hooked ever since! How dumb is this? It's 10:30 pm here and I'm drinking strong coffee... LOL! Added to the fact that I have had the flu now for the last 3 days, I can't tell whether I'm standing or sitting at the moment. |

I'll never forget one unpleasant chilly day we spent fishing on a big reservoir years ago in east Idaho. The sky was lead-gray overcast and wind came in freezing gusts. The fish weren't biting and I was cold and disgusted. "You want a cup of coffee?" Dad asked. "Sure," I said sarcastically, since we were miles from any place that served coffee. He dug into his Levi's pocket and brought out a small packet of something wrapped in waxed paper. He found a big discarded tin can and scoured it clean with sand. He built a little fire with dry sagebrush, surrounded it with a few rocks to make a hearth for the can, and boiled water long enough to kill any uglies it might contain. He opened his little packet of fresh coffee grounds and dumped them in and let the brew steep. I can't remember what we used for cups but a few minutes later we were drinking glorious hot coffee! No eggshells and the fishing was still lousy. But that was the best coffee I've ever drunk. |

And an herb can be banned by the FDA on an assumption of danger with no solid proof. The whole ephedra issue was a great example. Pharmaceutical drugs on the other hand do not have to be proven safe nor effective in order to obtain FDA approval. As an example the FDA was Court ordered back in the 60s to remove 710 FDA approved prescription drugs from the market found top be ineffective or too dangerous for human use. The FDA found a loophole and left all these drugs on the market. Many have since been made available over the counter despite the fact that they were once considered so dangerous that they required a prescription. One of these drugs is dextromethorphan (DM) used in cough medicines, which was proven to be no more effective than placebo. A later study reported in the Journal of Pediatrics once again reported that DM was found to be no more effective than placebo, yet the FDA still has this proven worthless crap on the market. As another example, if you ever watched the old commercials for Ambien and Lunesta you would have heard where they clearly said their drugs were "non-narcotic". Do you know what the definition of "narcotic" is? Of course not because you are a complete moron. So let me help you out Don. The definition of a narcotic is a "sleep inducing agent". So here we have these supposed sleep aids that their manufacturers have clearly claimed do not work yet they still got full FDA approval!!! So you want to discuss quack medicine? Start by looking at FDA approved drugs. By the way Don I know you don't realize these facts so let me fill you in some more. FDA approved: -Statin drugs used to lower cholesterol cause heart failure. -Oral hypoglycemics used to treat diabetes can make a type 2 diabetic insulin dependent. -Antidepressants can cause severe suicidal depression. -Asthma inhalers actually make asthma attacks more likely leading to a possible inhaler dependence. -Chemotherapy drugs are listed as known carcinogens. -Steroids used to treat autoimmune conditions further suppress the immune system making the underlying autoimmune condition worse. -Thyroid medications atrophy the thyroid making the thyroid more under active, which is why they have to keep upping the dose of thyroid medication. -Osteoporosis treatment drugs known as bisphosphonates actually increase the risk of bone fractures by making the bone brittle. The list goes on and on, but I know you will ever get it since this would require being smarter than a 5th grader, which you clearly are not. So here we have an example of where someone the age of 14 can in fact work for an organization at the age of 14. So once again you are WRONG!!! Even though I was well under the legal age limit to be certified I was allowed to work in an EMT capacity in the emergency room. Yep, the U.S. is definitely safer since you are finally out of the Navy. No telling what you would have screwed up if you were still in.  |

But its not alright to post evidence or anything you disprove of. As I mentioned in an earlier post I am not surprised that so many people have left this site. But of course some people just love to hate and had to start spouting their false crap. And when I post evidence to the contrary I am once again the "bad guy". To make matters worse there are several people on these boards who feel that they are so important that they and they alone should dictate what can be said on these boards and who should be allowed to post. Definite delusions of grandeur. If these people did not want to deal with me then they did not have to read my posts or respond. Yes, in fact plants have been studied for their medicinal properties. Unlike your so called cures, In real medicine, the valuable components in plants have been isolated from the useless or even harmful components. Those valuable components are now being synthesized in sterile labs under tightly controlled procedures. Unlike your form of snake oil medicine which uses the whole parts of the plant, usless, harmfull parts and all. What kind of controls are put on the manufacture of your snake oil ? Where's your sterile lab ? How often does a government inspector inspect your lab for procedures, controls and cleanliness ? Do you even have a lab, or are your snake oil medicines coming in all ready pre bottled from China or some other country with no controls at all ?
You should thank God each and every day for me and every other past or present service member. We're the ones who have ensured your right to spout your hatred for us.
I certainly thank you for your tax dollars which pay me retirement check and insurance.

I will not bother responding to your last staement. Who has the thin skin now? I came here to talk about lapidary, which I am trying to learn and stones, which is what I thought this site was about. I did not realize that this board was only to talk about what you are interested in such as snakes and different types of feces. That's why I also post on another forum. There they actually talk about lapidary and stones like I am interested in and nobody has to weed through all the crap and personal attacks. But since there are people here that I don't have problems with since they don't try to control everyone and just make up their "facts" like Don loves to do I will continue to post here as well. |

I tried to help vegas with his people skills in a message in a very nice way and I got the FU and he started calling me names on every thread. People are a little fed up with his bashing Don every time Don has a comment. Sooooo, some people came here to bash vegas I would guess. Now, here I am being Don's frog in slimy odor again. Jim Why don't you try telling the truth. You wrote me in a PM attacking me and lying about something that was none of your personal business in the first place. When Jim (wampidy) voiced his own opinion on a previous thread, vegasjames immediately accused him of being my knight in shining armor. Of coming to my rescue. According to vegasjames's way of thinking, only he is allowed to have opinions. Anyone who doesn't immediately agree with him isn't allowed to have an opinion. Now that's irony. Our whole feud started because I disagreed with you on a political topic. And since you feel you are the king of all knowledge nobody is allowed to post their opinion without having you try to chop their heads off. The reason you have continued to have a problem with me though and thus keep up with the personal attacks is because I have posted evidence several times proving your false claims wrong and as the self proclaimed king you cannot stand to have your authority challenged.
