I think chipmunks are a better kind of squirrel.  I wouldn't call a woodchuck a squirrel, therefore I'd not call a marmot one either. |

rockpickerforever, thanks for the link. Looks like we have a baby tree squirrel. I see nests in trees now and then. Rat nest or squirrel nest, I don't know. I wonder what how squirrels are beneficial to us or the environment. They sure trash our fruit trees. They don't share, they take one bite out of each item, toss it, grab another etc...

Alvin! Simon! Theodore! (Sorry, couldn't help myself!) Chipmunks entertain children and sing Christmas carols. They are just furry, long tailed-rodents.

Looks like a nutria.Over 45 years ago,a wave of nutria came through our area,digging holes in stock tank dams,causing them to break.Could see families of them crossing the pastures going from pond to pond.After a few years,they disappeared,havnt seen any since.Dang nuisance.I hear there are a few in Louisiana.

It looked a little lite colored to be a beaver and the teeth were lacking red color to be a nutria. Will have to research a Chupacabra. Well done Rick. For your dogs, mine love em  |

Scott,dont really know why they disappeared.Just glad they did.We don't have any swampy areas around,mainly the stock ponds,and they ate the aquatic plants in them.We had beavers move in a few years ago,never had them before,they are in the larger stock ponds.Beavers,fire ants,Africanized bees,wild hogs,had none of these as a kid snuffy |
