I know there's not a lot of smokers left, but I was curious if any of you use e-cigarettes, or have learned much about it?
I found this incredibly huge e-cigarette forum today and realized just how gigantic and worldwide this new thing, called 'vaping' rather than smoking is. I read a thread that is now over 1000 pages that asked older smokers about what got them started on e-cigarettes... people who smoked for 40-50 years and immediately walked away from the tar in cigarettes in 1 day. Really amazing.
Anyone familiar with this here?

I was wondering if there is an e-rocktumblingforum you could try Helen. You could immediately walk away and health would improve.

I switched to the E-cig about a month and a half ago and the change is amazing. I feel better, I do not have smoke in my eye all the time and even though I was buying smokes for twenty bucks a carton the E-cig is still cheaper. I have not been at it long enough to figure out exactly what it costs me but I just bought an eight ounce bottle of juice and it was $38.50 including $11.90 for shipping. Yea, that much for shipping an eight ounce bottle so I am going to be shopping around. Eight ounces will last me a long time. You can use all the different juices in other brands. You can get throw away, cartridge and refill type and with the refill you can choose from 50 different flavors and about six different strengths. The new refillable is great and the battery lasts like three or four days if you get the best one.
There are some that say they are bad for you but they are not nearly as bad as cigarettes. I read about one scientist that claims there is nothing in the E-cig that is harmful to the body.
Give it a try. I started on the E-cig and did not smoke one cigarette after that. The switch is really easy. Jim

Dang Jim, you didn't tell me that:). The thing that struck me about the thread after reading a few dozen pages was how so many people claimed their health improved almost immediately. One man was diagnosed with COPD (emphysema) for 7 years, and within 3 months was able to breathe. Another had been using inhalers and had asthma, and was able to toss all that. Thought anyone still smoking and didn't see this might want to look into it.
I still smoke, but I must smoke differently, since it doesn't seem to have the same negative effects on me that it does for others. But my husband coughs in the mornings, and I'm concerned for him.
I already ordered a Ultimate kit from one company, but after looking through the forum, did not even see that company listed. I got 4 'automatic' 808 sized batteries and a bunch of prefilled cartridges. Which e-cig brand do you use? Where are you getting your juice? If you like it so much, I'll try that too.
We got the $350 Nicotrol pack because his doctor forced it on him, and you can just pull on that all day long and not feel you got 1 combined drag. We still have the entire $350 Nicotrol pack (along with the entire Chantix pack). Useless. This sounds way more practical.

That is one brand Billy and there are many. That one either has cartridges or is refillable so you need to ask him which it is and then buy either the juice or the cartridges. Either way you need to push the button then drag on it, not pushing the button more than five seconds.
The thing that I do not like about mine is the length because it is too long. I am going to shop around for something shorter but is still refillable. I bought mine from E-Liq.com
Helen, check out that company to see if they have a refillable one that uses the same batteries. I had a cartridge one about a year ago and it has to burn some kind of cotteny stuff inside of the cartridge. I liked it but lost it and just got around to ordering new ones. My son stole my second one so now I have to buy another one which gives me the opportunity to look for shorter ones. This one is 118mm. Jim

Thanks Jim, going to give it a go. It looks like it is refillable. Time I gave up that nasty habit. Do you smoke less now?

Well, the amazing thing to me is that most of the people on that forum basically said the same thing... once they started using the E-cigs, they never went back to cigs. That alone amazes me.
I ordered the Ultimate pack from Bloog. But I don't see that even listed as a vendor on any of the forums, so no clue how good they are.
Billy, if you have one already, give it a go and let us know if you like it!

I have been vaping for over a year now. I started with the cigarette look-a-likes that you find at your local 7/11. I have not smoked a regular cigarette since. I no longer uses the disposable ecigs as I discovered that you can get re-fillable devices. There are no shortage of venders that make and sell the e liquid in any flavor or nic strength. I have a Provari personal vaping device and I fill the tank with eliquid once a day and the battery lasts over a day before needing to be recharged. You can even make your own eliquid if you really want to save $ Stu

Please quit. Y'all will feel so much better. Y'all will be so much better. I quit after 37 years at 2 packs/day. Due to threat of a failed bone fusion.

Well, according to the incredible plethora of stuff I've been reading... looks like you can have your nicotine and health too (relatively speaking). It seems people's lungs are clearing up from vaping... amazing.
Quitting is obviously the best thing to do. However, it's nearly impossible to quit if someone is actively smoking around you all the time. The availability of cigs and the continual smell takes willpower out of the equation.
This might work tho...
Jim, I ordered 4 of the 78 mm batteries, as that looked like the best size (plus car charger battery, plus USB charger, plus usb wall plug, plus personal charging pack). I have no idea how it will stand up.
Nothing I ordered will work with liquid tho...you have to screw on the cartridges (which you buy by the 5 pack). I didn't go the liquid route because I thought it would be so messy. Maybe I need to try the liquid ones too, but then I'd have to buy all new batteries, since these won't work with liquid. Will see how they work next week:).

Billy, I do not smoke at all now.
Go with what you have now Helen. They will work as well as the refillable and are a little more convenient even though the refillable is not messy at all. There is a little squeeze bottle that has a really thin little tube that you insert into the tank once you have removed the mouth piece, then you squeeze, a few seconds later you have it filled up. Replace the mouth piece and you are done. A tank full will last all day unless you really suck on it a lot, which I have done. If you do not need both hands to do something it is pretty easy to keep holding it and keep sucking on it more than required. I have learned to either lay it down or stick it in my pocket so I do not constantly have it stuck in my mouth over and over again. If you need two hands to do something there is no way you are going to let it hang out of your mouth. You have to hold it with your hand because of the weight of the battery.
The first of this week I went to a dermatologist to get a couple of spots biopsied. I had the thing in my cargo shorts pocket when I turned over on the examination table and I almost broke it. I did not realize it at the time but when I got outside it had a big bend in it. I carefully straightened it out and it is working ok.
Another plus is not having to have fire with you at all times and there is no way you are going to smoke in bed and burn yourself up. Jim

Quit Quit Quit
It goes down hill as you get a little age on your body.
The smoking really gets at breathing and blood pressure.
I rarely cough and never wake up with beat up lungs and windpipe.
Bronchial was the worst-GONE ! No more recurring bronchitis.
The lungs rebuild quick.
It controls you. Smoking is a vice and really does control you.
Go people go!

Is this what I am seeing around town?
"Vape" or "Vapor" stores?
There must be ten of these stores with ten minutes of my home. Never understood what they were.
I quit smoking after I moved from my parents home. I was a four pack a day smoker at home. 2 packs from each parent. I was sick all the time and the doctors were telling parents stop smoking around him. They said, we are smoking it and not sick. It can't be that. Asshole parents. To this day, if I go to a bar where people smoke I get sick the next day.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. Ordering the juice today. I also see that they have levels of nic you can choose from. I think this is the going to be the way I finally quit. Keep lowering the dose. Hope it works.

I don't know how good these are, but they seem highly recommended by some people on the forums, they are less expensive than some of the ones I've looked at, and the tobacco varieties seem to be a nice selection. Plus, they are 20% off your whole order, making them even cheaper than elsewhere right now (don't know what shipping to Canada might cost, but they are a UK company, so may have a Canadian distributor too): www.liberty-flights.com/product.asp?id=39Plus, they have Vegetable Glycerin e-juice. While propylene glycol, which is used in all the other e-juice blends, is FDA approved... it's also the one substance blamed in Vaccines that so many people get up in arms about. Eating it may not be the same as taking it into the bloodstream... which smoking would do directly. So given the choice, I'd rather have the vegetable glycerin formulas.

Found a Canadian vendor who sells Tobacco blends with Vegetable Glycerin instead of Propylene Glycol too. This one appears to be highest rated with 178 reviews: www.canadaejuice.com/ry4-doubleI figure I won't know which I like til I try them, so I ordered a variety of smaller ones and a couple of bigger ones to see which I liked best.

Where I get mine they offer VG, PG or a bunch of different blends of the two. I was not sure which would be better so I ordered a 50/50. That place you posted is difficult to figure out what price and all the other things. Do not like that site at all. They have exactly the same ? cigarette as what I have. Jim

Here are some vendors that sell ejuice. The 1st is a great place for US made Ejuice in either p/g or v/g base they have great customer service and a great product. Try their butterscotch flavor. The 2nd is also a made and sourced in the USA vendor a more of a boutique type shop as they stop production as soon as they reach their daily limit. Their tobacco flavors are naturally extracted. Provape is were I purchased my Provari again made in the USA top quality good warranty. There is a lot of crap on the market from China. BEWARE There are many forums on ecigs this is a link to the best one out there. www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/They are very helpful and a wealth of information as it can get quite confusing.
