Jamesp stopped after 38 years. 2 packs a day for the last 10 years. After 75 days i did not desire them except after dinner and sex. Increasing coffee intake was the best help. I really feel better. Really. And my skin changed for the good. And the bronchial stuff went away. And my wind got better. It is strange but i am happy not to struggle with the bad effects. And i am my own person. Not under control of my habit. That freedom is like no other benefit. The freedom is special. To be controlled by a habit is demoralizing. To be able say no effortlessly. Looking at the risks is a big deal too. Cause it will kill you.

Well, James, now that you are quit, you don't need to try e-cigs, but these are good:). I will never quit nicotine itself I think. I started smoking too young, and I think my brain is now wired to function only with nicotine in it. I actually read that in a paper... that if you start very young, that quitting means you DO lose brain capacity. In my case, that would make me even meaner than I am:P. LOL!
Not to mention that people who smoke generally don't get Alzheimers, and they are still trying to figure out why.
This is the solution I've been looking for. No more tar, no 2nd hand smoke, no stinky clothes or hair, no standing outside in the hot or cold, no burning anything with your cig, no fires, and no suffering from not being able to smoke. Haven't tried this yet, but I'll bet you can sneak it in the bathroom on planes.
The risks of cigarette smoking ARE a big deal. My lungs are clearing, I feel healthier already... and I did LITERALLY NOTHING to try to quit smoking. I just vaped away, AND smoked... and gradually didn't feel like smoking anymore. Most people end up smoking in social situations... your friend's smoking, so you want one too. If you carried a little e-cig on you... you can smoke that and never need to jones for an OP.
I'm loading up to do this for the rest of my life. I do NOT want to quit nicotine, never did. I just wanted to avoid the tar in smoking, and this does that.
A lot of people found it easy to walk away from vaping once they weaned off of cigarettes. Well, I like it, and I plan to keep doing it:).

Nothing like jumping in with both feet Helen! You never heard of cigquestration? pm me your link Helen, I am a nice guy once in a while. Billy, you should try a bunch of different flavors... that's one of the most fun parts about this, is all the flavors... it's pretty neat:). Did you try Liberty Flights? My favorite of what I have is Churchill... it's heavy and cigar-like, but sweet and dry. I have Homeland too, and that's too sweet and reminds me of hay... alfalfa hay to be exact. I don't want to eat/smoke alfalfa hay. Hotel is nice too, very cigarette/cigary, but lighter and more subtle. I am not a menthol smoker, but I got some of their double mint and add a couple of drops into each tank. It's really nice... especially knowing that you're inhaling menthol and mint extract and not fiberglass and asbestos:). Oh, and of course Red, which is supposed to be classic Marlboro, and USA Mix or Virginia. I've heard good reviews but haven't tried Gold & Silver either. Get the blueberry for something different... Liberty Flights blueberry is the bomb:)!!

Considering that every bit of news about Obama you get is from what you read, since you don't know the guy... you may want to rethink what you call 'gullible'.

Well Helen, you never seem to do anything half way. I am happy to hear that you and Billy are getting switched. I did the same as you for a while the first time I tried the E. Smoked a little and soon got to hating it. This last time I tried them I just quit the cigs on the spot. I bought a starter kit with two 1300 mah batteries and my son ended up with one. Yesterday I ordered one clear cartimizer and one 600 mah battery. The Ecig that I have now is too long so I want to try the shorter battery to see how I like it. The 1300 mah battery lasts almost two days so if I can get two days out of it and one day out of the other I can leave for three days without having to worry about finding a place to charge. I bought menthol and raspberry the first time and couldn't tell much difference in the two so I figure my taster is totally out of whack. I bought an 8 oz raspberry but I think that when it is gone I will just buy the no flavor. One less thing that I am sucking into my lungs. Plus, like you two there is no fire so when I fall asleep with it I do not end up with more burn holes in my sheets. Not too long ago I set my mattress on fire for the first time (1 1/2 inch diameter hole) so I am a bit afraid to smoke now. I have a very large bedroom with no closet so my cloths are hanging out in the open. (a five foot rod holds more cloths than I need ) I just figured out that the smoke ruined a t-shirt that I bought in VietNam when I was there. I have plenty of drawers but it is easier to hang them than fold them so now I have some ruined cloths that I was not wearing on a regular basis (a button down shirt is dressy for me) so all my button down shirts are probably ruined. What do I do with them Helen before I wash them so they will come clean? Good luck Jim

Hi Jim:). First, I would not order unflavored. You don't think you can tell the difference but the unflavored nicotine is bleh. Flavors are generally such a small % of the small % of vapor, it's negligible, but the SMELL adds to your experience. I think so anyway:). Plus, they put some sweetener in there, so there's some taste. No taste is seriously bleh, I know because I have a liter of plain nicotine in VG I'm blending with, from WL, a company that's reputed to have the lowest taste in nic solutions... and I tried it alone. YUCKY.
Your clothes? Uh... you can try bleach, but I have no idea if it will come out. Years ago, my husband would sneak cigs near my closet, and ruined a LOT of my silks and wools that were all dry clean. It never came out. Maybe it will come out of cottons, only one way to find out:).

Jim - is it the smell you're trying to get rid of or are there actually nicotine stains on the clothes? Try adding a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle - then wash it again adding 1 cup baking soda to the detergent. Works on towels when they get that sour smell after a while (makes them soft again too) so it should work on any lingering odor. I've heard lemon juice works too but I haven't tried it myself

Yellow stains just like the white walls. The cigars I smoked really put out the yellow stuff.
Thanks for the tips. Jim

The baking soda should help with the yellowing. Use cold water wash and you may have to do it more than once. Don't put them in the dryer until you've gotten the stains out as much as you can. Heat sets the stains

Yea, I missed the stain on the first wash and put it into the dryer. It was a super soft t-shirt with some hand stitched letters and leaves from VietNam when I was there a couple of years ago. Happy as hell that I got to go back, pissed as hell that I messed up the t-shirt. It is a very light grey and white mix so a dye job might be a fix. It probably wouldn't be worth it to go back and get another. Wellllll I would not have a problem with going back. I wish that I would have spent ten months there and ten days in China instead of the other way around. lol Jim
