Okay, I opened the box and had a lot of fun going through it. There were quite a few broken slabs, but not from this shipment I'm pretty sure. (The box arrived in good condition, and all of the broken pieces were well insulated. Probably broken from a previous shipment. Anyway, here is what arrived in the box: Here is what I took out: And here is what I put back in: Some of the more interesting pieces (to me) Middle left, and bottom left, and to the right of the middle left- Polychrome Jasper slabs from Madagascar To the right of the bottom left Polychrome Jasper - nice slab of mahogany obsidian. To the right of the obsidian, imperial/porcelain jasper To the right of that - Kambaba jasper To the right of that - Polished slab of polychrome jasper Above the Kambaba, 2 pieces of Labradorite with one face polished To the right of that, small slab of tiger eye Above that, nice slab of good quality jade To the right of the jade slab, a polished tiger eye stone And, to the left of the jade, the pièce de résistance... a one inch thick piece of Namibian Pietersite. A skilled slabbed can get at least 2 slabs, perhaps 3 from it. Solid Pietersite colors all the way through. It's a little on the narrow side, but should be good for earrings or narrow cabs. I do need the address for the next person on the list (PM sent, but I checked his history, and he hasn't posted anything since mid September.) Thanks! Jeff

Thanks for the warning Jeff. I'll start digging out stuff to put in the box. Hope you left some room in there.

Damn Jeff, I just ordered an almost 9 lb chunk of Polychrome. Guess I'll leave that slab in for the next guy.

May be a few days before I get the box. Snowing horizontal up here. Nothing moving on the roads.

Unfortunately, it hasn't quite left my house yet. Working very hard for tomorrow.
I have a question for the other people on the traveling box... with the stuff I am adding, it is too large for a medium flat rate. In my opinion, a fair amount of the stuff in the box is either too damaged or just isn't very interesting. So my question is... should I take some extra stuff, knowing that I probably won't use it, or should I upgrade to a large flat rate? I'm already putting in more than I'm taking out, I just wouldn't want to take stuff out that somebody else might actually use.

Jeff, I think Don is hoping for a half empty box so he can load it up.
If you take extra stuff out, then you can donate it to the Killer Cab Contest for use as prizes. Mario is doing that with extras we already culled!

I always go through the box when I get it. I take out any badly broken pieces and chips, and set them aside for tumbling mix. From the last 2 or 3 traveling boxes I have almost a medium FRB of broken bits for tumbling. I don't tumble anymore, so if anyone wants them, give me a shout.

Hey Don this is a "Shout". I tumble if you want to get rid of your box. Let me know, Bill I'll have to get it all packed in a new FRB. Just been storing the pieces in assorted boxes. Don't know how soon I can send it either. Depends on the weather. Nothing has been moving on the roads today.

Hey Don let me know how much the shipping is n I will paypal you. Take your time I understand how weather and life is. Hey I bought a old P.D.Q. Gem Drill off ebay with a variable speed foot control. It should be here soon. I saw a thread where you had a pic of yours and you have a handle to move the drill somehow on the bottom. I did not see a handle in the pic of mine. I might need your help figuring out how to use this thing and or a good pick of your handle setup so I can make one. My girlfriend, Susan says my addiction to rocks has grown to include a addiction to old vintage lapidary equipment!!!! Hey thats ok she cut her first cabs Sunday, a big matrix turquoise, a small pure blue turquoise, and a Indian Paint Stone. She glued a bail on the Paint stone and wore it to work and got rave reviews. Addiction on the way!!!!! LOL Thanks, Bill
