Are those Jesus deer? 'cause they're walking on water, lol! They must be vampires, too - no shadows.

But James, you already knew that, dincha? There was a joke going around awhile back about a deer biting someone in the neck. Stupid joke, but you just made me recall it...
Thanks, Scott. I did mean no reflection as well. Actually that's what I was thinking of first.

No, t was a good deer for him. He was happy and took it to be butchered. I didn't need any of his as I did better.

keep em comin james p. Game cams are sweet. I have a nice game trail camera myself that I won in a raffle. Need to set it up. Have deer and all kinds of critters all around. Been seeing 3 the last few evening coming right up in yard from back field to get them acurn. Acurns dropped a few weeks ago. Have a ton of them on the ground now.
My dog goes out there everytime a deer comes around but she doenst run them off. She'll huff and puff at them but doesnt run toward them. She only really goes crazy over the coyotoes.

It's both. Since this guy is older maybe 3-4 and Jim has seen him before with spikes, then it's likely genetic for this specimen. Plus his deer look far from hungry. If a deer has a bad year and grows poor antlers, he will shed them. The next year could be nutritionally awesome and his antlers grow to full potential, maybe even 10 pointer with drop tines.

Yeah, the ones that go back and forth from year to year, depending on availability of forage, they call them "swing" deer. Some more crazy stuff I never knew before.

Hunt camps go crazy down here trying to kill the spikes. They think it runs around and impregnates the females w/male deer that will always have 2 points. I have seen 2 killed that were very large and strong deer. One had a lot of blood on it. From other animals. Apparently they can be a force to reckon with. With their spears.
He should be a 4 pointer. He is a big teenager. I see his other homey is an 8 pointer and i don't think he fears the 8 at all. I see them at the same place.
Why did you think to look that touchy subject up Jean? I dodged it for the amount of theory...

We have little food issues. They are certain that it is a genetic issue. One of the boys killed one 3-4 years back that was 3.5.It too was a tough customer judging by his build and health. Plenty of scars and split ears. A warrior. Can tell by the teeth their age. I killed a buck 15 years ago that was acting drunk. I got to him and he had the crap beat out of him. Looked like someone had scissored his ears and hammered on him w/the sharp end of a welding hammer. He had been in the fight of his life. His injuries were fresh and far exceeded any healed accumulated damage i had ever seen on a buck. I always go over there heads to see what scars and damage they have. It tells me a lot about the competition.

Why did you think to look that touchy subject up Jean? I dodged it for the amount of theory... You mean it's touchy because there are so many theories? I looked it up to find out what it was about. I like to learn things just for the sake of learning. I took biology in high school and junior college, I understand about genetics.
