Lortone 14" Drop Saw. Works great. I picked it up last summer in a estate purchase. I've cut 3 rocks with it and it runs great... Just something that came with the collection and something I don't need . It's used, and dirty! Local Pick-up only! and will take a truck or trailer to haul. The saw has been modified with a wooden stand, due to someone welding in a drain valve in the bottom to make cleaning easier. Good idea, but a paid to move around. $575 - Located in The Dalles, Oregon

Me too Phil. I'd love to have it, but with the cost of gas, driving from South Dakota to Oregon and back is out of the question.

I have one of the drop saw just the same. I do like it alot. You do have to keep it squared up or you get angled cuts and now my pump has died after fixing it the second time. I see there is a new pump on ebay am bidding for it now. I have a gravity basket with a line through 2 pulleys tied to the handle to keep from having all the weight on the blade. I suck the oil out with with the vacuum sucker about every two weeks. If you don't the pump gets muck in it. It is fun to use and watch the rock being cut.

Still running strong, and delivers plenty of oil to the blade.

Thanks Bill Bill, A swamp cooler pump is what is used in the hot, dry southwest for our evaporative coolers. And ou don't measure them by HO, you buy them according to GPH. We use the smallest that Walmart carries, and it's always pumped lots of oil to the blades. About $20 buys you a good one.

Looking to move this saw. Dropped the price $75 - Now $575.00 :-) Um, it was 575 originally. If you had a way to get it to Albuquerque and etc, we might negotiate a bit. But I know shipping is gonna cost a bundle.

Actually I edited my original post above. I had $650obo on it originally. Yes it could be shipped... however this would be a nightmare to deal with. It would need to be cleaned well, and dismantled. I've shipped many pieces of equipment.. yet this one just doesn't look fun haha.
I'll do some thinking though!

Are these types of saw any good for cutting thunder eggs or Dugway geodes?

Solid ones, yes, hollow ones, no, it'll break them.

Hard to see how any of these are worse than snappin’ ‘em with a pipe cutter.

Jerry - The few times I used this saw, that's exactly what I cut is Thundereggs. The only thing one must make sure with this saw (and many of the smaller lortones) is they use the top clamp vise. They work good, however just need to make sure they get a good bite :-). One advantage to this saw, I noticed it cut very quickly compared to a normal screw feed style saw :-)

Still interested.... but don't need the motor, which should make shipping cheaper and easier... Will give you $375 plus pay shipping and whatever via your local pack and ship UPS store. That way you can sell the motor to someone boosting the $$ you got. You'll probably have to take it to the local car wash to clean it before they'll accept it for shipping tho.
