Not quite... But I was overdue pregnant with 2 big girls born a year apart. I carried each 10 months in the dead of Florida heat. Hence, I felt like Mama looked like she felt. (miserable)

Congrats! We bred, raised and showed Shelties for over 20 years. In all that time, we never had a "natural" breeding, all were AI. Luckily we had an average of four per litter instead of the probably 8-12 your breed offers per litter. Still, the poor mom and dad never got to enjoy everything that those with natural births did.

How are mom and pups doing today, jamesp? Is that the runt of the litter beneath the pile nursing?

How are mom and pups doing today, jamesp? Is that the runt of the litter beneath the pile nursing? Beware of the runt of the litter in this breed Jan. In most cases they are over active little cage fighters that dominate the whole lot. It happens in almost every litter. They just have a higher metabolism. Visitors often feel for them and we grin, knowing they have the devil in them. that one in the middle is buried. Tough sucker it looks like to be under there like that. Pretty cool photo. Glad they all made it out ok. Read more: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/65866/weighed-lbs-weeks-ago-101?page=2#ixzz32r8Xi9JWBrad, the bottom row is top position. The bottom guys don't have to hang on. They just lay there and glutonize.

Congrats James! that's a good looking family you got there Speaking of sewing seeds, we had to bring the male seeds all the way from Virginia. Sprouting saws and dogs is quite a feat.

This was an easy one. They popped out in 4 hours. Not bad for a first time Mama. Yes, a c-section is a serious matter. Kinda increases the fear level. I guess big dogs with small heads are easier. I would have thought Shelties to be a natural birther.

How are those puppies and Mommy doing today? they sure are cute 'lil critters! She is a smoothie. Pups are not screamers. This will be an easy litter. She will crush them in an attempt to attack a bug. Bugs are always big problems. And this Mom has an issue in that area. I can tell that they will be a calm and passive bunch. They let you know the first day or two. This is good. In 3-4 weeks they start screaming for no reason(in my mind). That's when they get their first dose of discipline, a shot of water from the spray bottle. If you nip the screaming in the bud they will be healthier and sleep better. sounds cruel, it's about a 3 day process and it's over, they get the message. Otherwise they maybe barkers for the rest of their life.

We still get pictures of a few of them once in a while.and it does the heart good to see them loved and well cared for. We even have one in Hollywood with an actress:-)

Celebrity pups can create a serious bond between breeder and owner. Best owner is a good owner. Yes, nothing like supplying a puppy to a good home. Wife has a ''resume" for them to fill out. It is quite detailed. Fun to watch her reaction when she gets an inquiry from a wild hog hunter or a puppy mill; she gives them Hell.

Glad it went well for all concerned Our oldest is 14 and the next two are 13, so it will soon be time to shed some tears at their passing. There is some comfort in knowing we have provided them a wonderful and healthy life, but it will still be very hard and they will be missed every day yeah I just had to put my dog down a few weeks ago. 14 years she was my shadow. Couldn't even go to the bathroom without her walking in. Best dog ever. Loved the woods and water. This pic was taken not too long before had to put her down. Just got a bath and nails done. Just spend like 50 bucks on dog food and another 20 or so on pills. That sucked.lol At least she was clean when she went. Got her a nice spot in the ground.

I am going to be torn up something fierce when my Sugar girl goes. She is the most faithful and adoring dog that has ever owned me! When I leave the house, she will lay on the rug by the door until I return. She will get up to drink, eat and go potty, but is always right there to greet me when I get home
