beautiful blue! it does sound like a dream birthday! neat that you found so many larger and whole pieces. what do you soak it in to remove the matrix? Looking forward to seeing what some of it looks like tumbled. blue is such a rare color around here.

Works great on the silica but slow going on the bark etc. I will have some polished in a month or so.

Your pet wood tumbles are sweet, joe. Pretty cool that some of tumbles show the wood grain in them very well.

Your trip sounded oh so awesome!!! I can just imagine finding all the treasures, hooking your dinner and jumping in the river. Wonderful. Don't ever take it for granted. So many of us are deprived of such simple soul sustaining pleasures.

So many of us are deprived of such simple soul sustaining pleasures. Oh trust me I don't take ANY of it for granted! The fish were fabulous, always love cooking em on a stone . It's crazy seeing a lot of people around here not getting out of town and enjoying nature at its best. Thank you very much. More than welcome to come enjoy it in person anytime!

Sounds like a really great trip Joe. Maybe you can answer a question for me. I used to collect in Wyoming long ago but never collected any wood. I bought some limbs from a rock shop in Rock Springs I think. He sold me two types: blue limb casts he said were Blue Forest, and others that look like some you've posted with brownish exteriors but jet black inside that he called Eden Valley. Are the two locations close together? How do you tell one from the other?

Are the two locations close together? How do you tell one from the other? The two locations are within 50 miles driving woukd have to look at gps as the crow flies. It is rather easy to tell the difference between the two. Usually blue forest has a blue agate within it somewhere and the really nice one have blue chalcedony in the grain. Eden valley wood is more of a tan to brown exterior and in some cases has some agate attached still. To me it is a clear diffrence as i have the chance to hound it here. Me and Braders have actually found many other forms of palm in several different locations. Hope this was helpful Have a great day.
