There are always scammers and quick buck artists lurking. People are people and will do almost anything for money. Common sense goes a long way. Don't bet the rent if you cant afford to lose it. I have gotten lots of great deals (and more importantly made some great friends) by dealing with people on this forum. I dont think I have been burned on this forum; in rare cases disappointed. When you need a diamond pacific genie and cant afford the list price, dont let your desire to get a deal make you risk a quarter of half of the list price if that's a gamble you cant afford to lose.
The worst online scam I got burned by was maybe ten or so years ago. I bought a grinder from a seller( private individual like myself) with excellent ratings and many posts. It never arrived. the seller of record was not directly to blame. He went on an extended vacation and his house sitter went on a selling spree on ebay under his identity. Unfortunate, but how was I to anticipate that!
Scammers often tug at your heartstrings. I've been burned by a soldier in full uniform; board the train and he sits next to me. As the conductor starts down the aisle toward us checking for tickets, the soldier has a story of needing to get home on leave and no cash, lost his wallet. Who can deny those protecting our country, eh?
Or i've traded goods online and when the package doesn't arrive I start questioning the other side... and they shut me up with a story of a wife in the hospital and they are indignant that I can be so heartless about a box of opal..and, oh btw, I never get my return package, que sera sera.

I don't believe there is anything keeping you from buying here. Tommy ? It takes 100 posts to sell? Thought it was 50. Yeah, that kinda sucks for you if the post requirement rose after having reached 50 and being here over 2 years.

Starting new threads in this area require 100 posts - its an anti-scammer measure. Maybe pull up one of your old posts and revive it with fresh posting - and/or a freshly edited title. and... its 78 now

My opinion,if there are scammers on a forum, their name should be made public and shamed!!!! I do know a few people on here with a low post count, but are responsible sellers, they just don't have the gab, like some folks....I trust them too...

I think we need a "Post padder" smiley I wasn't aware the clock reset for sales on here. I don't post a whole lot myself, but rarely list anything.

Had a guy on here take me for $100.00 worth of rough. he had a high post count, when I had a low one. He then claimed the IRS seized his bank account, and couldn't pay. he must have got somebody else on here too because he was deleted, and I wasn't the one who complained.

So he never got another pay check for the rest of his life? Can maybe understand "sh*t happens", but make it right ASAP. Even if I died, I would expect my wife to make good on any outstanding obligations.

Unfortunately there is No way to protect against Scammers. Scammers are On all websites on Various Forums. . They will Post and post Until There Ready. . Phony names, Po Box, . and such. The old Saying still is True, If the deal Is too good to be true It's Not Most Other forums Have a Deadbeat Topic to try to Keep Track of Them.. They just keep Coming Back Because It's easy to Get someone to Buy or sell
