I have a few more pics but uploading via mobile is being a hassle. I'll post the others in a few hours when I get home.
Feel free to guess what this particular rock is.

Here's the second rock I found (the colors really came out after a scrub): And this is what it looks like with a light behind it: This rock has not been cut by me at all. Found it like this in the stream.

I'll have to wait until Tuesday to cut it open and yes I found it close to home.

The first two appear to be a jasper/agate mix. A little trace iron will produce the yellows and reds. There appears to be some glassy sections that are agate, or chalcedony. You'll have to polish the crust of them, or cut them open.
The last one looks like a smoky quartz or a grey agate. The white filled in the fractures after the original rock formed.

wow, is the color true, is it really that golden? very interesting matrix, looks like a lot like the pudding stone matrix we find here... looks crystal-y but takes a polish and stays solid (mostly). Don't forget to show us what you do with it!

Don't forget to show us what you do with it! Yes, the colors are true. I did wet the pieces, but these pictures do it no justice. Much more orange and yellow in person. Not sure what I can do with it. Should I get my glue and try and seal up all the holes and such?

Your second find looks to me as if it has the turtle back in it. When you get to slice a slab off, hold it up to the light again and post a pic. I find common opal sometimes attached to the agate itself that has the turtle back look in it, and i just snap it off. Thanks for sharing these pics.

Im usually one to want to slab everything, but I was advised to leave this one as it is. Should I slab it long ways or down the middle or...? And what does it mean to have "turtle back in it"?

Better to do as you were advised. I'm certain it isnt what I am seeing, first its not bubble top. Some bubble top gives off this effect after cutting from layered chalcedony. www.glypticconcepts.com/turtleback.html

If something like opal may be inside, will it show when the light is behind it?
