Well I bought this 100 led uv light a year ago... works great and built strong. It is Chinese but that really doesn't matter on this product. Only the battery case can be made stronger. I would buy this thing again should it ever go out. Works great for finding amber (at least here). It also illuminates other materials also (it illuminated stuff that glows on shortwave but not too good as it is long wave) The company has fast shipping and really nice pricing. Also this light is (for the amount of bulbs) the cheapest by far. ebayI'd like to use it once again if i can find someone to go hounding with me.

Semen glows under long wave UV, so does dried urine. Trust me, when you find a dirty bed and invite the manager to your room to see what you see, you get a real nice suite and sometimes the entire weekend for free! Las Vegas may even give you food/drink vouchers too! Or, dont bother to do this, ignorance is bliss.

The only thing that glows in my room is pieces of fluorescent rock dust from my Franklin NJ minerals LO

Do you have to threaten to call the local TV or something or are just the glows enough to do the trick. I think this is a little trick I'd like to have in my book for future reference. Does it also show bedbugs?

Does it also show bedbugs? Cannot speak to bedbugs. I have on three occasions in ten years found fluorescent stains in hotel rooms. None of those occasions needed any argument at all. I think the media threat is implicit and should not be spoken. If I was a hotel manager and that threat was made, I would ask that client to leave my property immediately and find a room in another hotel. Then deny everything at all cost if/when he does go public. Only once (Vegas) did I need to show the actual manager. The other two times just saying I had the flashlight was enough. Vegas had good reason though. The time in Las Vegas was specially good their upgrade was to a "condo" two level two bedroom suite with bidet and hot tub in the room. The condo comes with free dinner in any of the hotel's restaurants. THAT was a nice upgrade! $1500 a night for a three day weekend!! The flashlight cost me $10 including postage from china!

Yes some of the ones with less bulbs that that person / company makes are cheaper but for rock hunting finding amber in the field I thought bigger is better.. It does seem to go farther than the 50 bulb one my friend had. I will be in the field with it this saturday night... i'll bring my expensive camera to get great night shots... However I will be keeping. Phil Please note that this is mostly for only long wave minerals like ruby / amber although it can pick up shortwave minerals. If you want a good shortwave light I can give my advice on that also... but short wave is a lot more expensive!

Here is the shortwave UV light I have made by raytech... There are far cheaper short wave lights on ebay, but the rays just don't go as far. This is really an instance of you get what you pay for. (I have used the cheap ones also) I would recommend buying the shortwave only light and the above led long wave flashlight. I have had this light since I was 8 years old so roughly 12 years. link

Heres a pic of amber under the long wave LED light. The light is a good distance away, approx 4 feet not centered on the amber.

Field tested and works great. The only problem is it does not like the fatter rechargeable batteries (tends to lose connection using them).

how much amber did ya find? I found a lot more than expected in terms of large chunks... haven't got a group photo yet but i didn't really pick up anything smaller than 1/4 inch. heres link to the other thread with my largest amber find to date (see added photos to bottom of first post or posts further down) link

Any leads on a cheap but good short wave UV light? I have seen (only tested one) cheap shortwave lamps that go around $30-$40, but honestly it is worth spending the money on the more expensive shortwave lamp that I mentioned in a few posts above. link again This light is a lot more powerful and lasts for years (I have had mine for at least 12 years maybe a few more). The cheap $30 shortwave lamp is on ebay, and while I might try getting one for kicks some day, I would rather buy another raytech. If you can't find the lamp on ebay i'm talking about send me a pm and i'll try to find it for you... one is red and black and the other is just black if I remember correct.
