So glad you enjoyed the quarry! It is one of my favorite places for an easy Sunday afternoon to collect. I do need to get back to the Kingston/Cartersville site when I can spend more time looking. Maybe I'll do it on my way down to the JXR Amethyst dig in December. Would be a great way to kick off that long weekend

I have been going to that site for about 14 years now. Always find some neat rocks. There is oolite found there too. On the North side of the pit, different colors of red and yellow ochre is found. It was thought that Native Americans used this site at one time. I have found some neat micro crystal pockets. Some pockets having tiny quartz crystals. Also found either stalagtites or stalagmites pieces that had the layering of agate on the inside and small quartz crystals on the outside. I have not been there in several years now. May have changed alot there. Glad you enjoyed the trip there.

did you really notice 400#? That is just two male passengers and I would expect an SUV to not even notice two passengers.
I'll bet is you really had 800 pounds! Nice haul! haha

Lots of undercutting in this. Taken to the 120 wheel:

Excellent haul! Really nice agate and one us folks out west seldom see. Really reminds me of Missouri Lace or some of those agates Thunder gets on the Mississippi River. The high contrast examples with the black and white are very cool!....Mel

Super Nice! There a lot of specimen quality pieces and a whole lot of nice slicing material. Best of both worlds in one location. I'll have to do a little research on the Paddy Quarry and see what I am missing out on.
Darryl.
