This is little one inch bamboo. The three inch stuff sounds like mortars. It still makes my ears ring, have had the police arrive looking for suspected auto gun fire in the past. it was green and burned slow, so pop output was slow. Prior kerosene application can speed up popping rate. Today's bamboo removal, removing it because it is freeze sensitive. Note leaves froze off, should be full of green leaves. Dropped back of grove w/brush cutter Pushed the back of the cut grove against the front of the uncut grove with the tractor and removed any litter that may burn Bamboo burned and pruned limbs from tree line End result

I can see why the police would be called. Or rather, I can hear why the police would be called - LOL
Is that an every year tradition or every couple?

You should market them as Urban bear bangers for the city folk who dont own firearms. Environmentally friendly for the Green movement? Pack of ten for 5 bucks and they can place them in there campfires at night. LoL

I can see why the police would be called. Or rather, I can hear why the police would be called - LOL Is that an every year tradition or every couple? One year we had a couple of gals visiting from is Israel over Christmas holidays. So I had a bamboo bonfire Christmas Eve. I told them it was a Christmas tradition. They had a blast. But I really perverted their view on an American Christmas. If carefully stacked on the leaves and tops, dried, 3-4 inch diameter canes cut optimum about 5 feet long, the noise will absolutely bruise your ear drums. And may explode at a rate of 5-10 per second. That was a small removal. Another variety froze, grove 300 feet long and 30 feet long. Will hire a loader for that one. Trimming and shaping can be done anytime of the year, best in cold weather. It is easier to clear trees than bamboo. It has saw briars running thru it an makes it difficult to handle. Arms look like I got into a 2 hour knife fight.

I wouldn't of expected that if not for the video. That is pretty cool. Sounds just like guns.

It averages 3/4 inch and is dead solid. The explorer Magellan was struck across the back by some kind of ninja martial artist and it killed him w/one blow on his back. It has very long fibers that simulate fiberglass and apparently has some "energy' in it according to the martial dudes. i would simply say that it is hard as shnit. Many green folks don't like it because it is 'introduced'. Others like it as a renewable resource. It does make the strongest paper known to man. Lot of people ask me for some to make bong pipes. I have like 30 varieties, and am a 'dig your own' resource for landscaping.

The bigger canes go KABOOM with a deep tone. You can hear the sound resonating off in the distance just like a gun. Good comparison.

The water lilies are part of my business, as is the bamboo. So the maintenance is deductible. Amazing how the deductible part motivates LOL. I have a pull behind mower with it's own engine. It is pulled behind an ATV and I torched the housing on one side to expose the blade to maintain the pond edges. And cut any bamboo canes that got out of their boundaries. It is a beast and was a cheap mower, rated at 16 acres per 8 hours.

Bamboo like this 4 inch P. Vivax is like a pipe bomb. When it lets go you may need to watch for shrapnel.
