My 10 yr old was on a big rock kick this weekend and talked me into teaching him the groove wrap. I started with a nice easy one and let him do it in copper. It went well but he made a common rookie mistake with the pliers and chipped a little piece off the back. Its really not noticeable too much in person but just enough to not list it on ETSY. He told me he would wear it but it looked a little too big for him so I told him to go pick out anything he wanted and we would make one better suited for him. He picked a nice chunk of lapis and we found a good small shape that will look good on a boy. Here's the fist attempt at wrapping one of my tumbled preforms. He even got to patina it and steel wool it after. He wants some tumbling rough so I think I might offer this up as a trade in the buy/sell/trade section. this is the small chip at the back And here's the lapis he will be wearing. I cabbed the first two hard wheels then he did all the nova wheels. I did not give him as much help on this one and it cost me some silver. We added some silver to the scrap pile but it was worth it and he really likes it. Here is how it started hard at work (mask and safety glasses. maybe I should be learning from him instead?) the pictures dont show it but he had my tutorial open on his ipad final product It was a good weekend for us. Hope yours was good too. Chuck

No competition James. He started 30 years before me and he already has all the equipment, lol

Ya gotta hang on to that first one and let him grow into it. That chip is a memory he will not forget and the wrap is great. Looks like you got the father thing down pat. My hat is off to you. Jim

That's awesome…He did a great job….I wish I would have started as his age instead of a year ago…so many lost years.
