My "what if I try this" mentality is shining again. I have just about every kind of string and cord you can imagine so something new was just waiting to happen. This wrap would have been way easier if it wouldn't have been a two sided cab. The reason for the silver wire is to cover up the back side of the bail, not to hold the bail together. I have a bunch of other cabs to try this on but I would like some feedback on this before I continue on the others so feel free to praise or bash this one. The stone is jadeite out of Burma or Myanmar. Jim

I really like that, something more like a man could wear than the wire wraps.
Is that one of the groove cuts like Chuck (Drummond Island Rocks) does?

Thanks for all the compliments. Ya'll think it is better than I do. New pics. Not great but these are not for sale photos, just plain photos for you plain folks. Just adulting ok. Hot damn I found some new cord today. The blue is my favorite and the inside is not white like the other cord which makes it tougher to make the ends look good. Now I need to cab some sodalite so I can use it. The back side of the stone. Guess I should say the other side of the stone because it can be worn either way.

If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, I would avoid light colored cords which would show dirt easily.
Is the cord glued on at all or just wrapped so tightly that it will stay in place? If it gets wet?

I like the idea! I have thought that a leather boot lace (rawhide) would be cool for some of the more rustic or "manly" looking cabs. I too am curious if you use glue to hold the cord in the groove or just make it tight with a knot that is hidden with the wire wrap?
I would give my idea of the leather cord a try...but I am still waiting for the grinding/shaping table for my Inland Swap-Top. I need to play with the skill of getting a groove around my cab first.

The cord was pulled really tight and super glued where the lace comes together at the top. Once that was dry and I could turn it loose I glued the two laces together about a quarter of an inch up the bail then folded the ends back and glued them to that quarter inch piece. That is why I had to add the wire wrap because when the lace has glue all through it it is much darker.
I think it would be impossible to roll the lace out of the groove at the bottom even though it is not glued in.
I am still in the experimental stages with this and I am not even sure if I will make any more this way. Just trying new things so I can stay interested. Jim

Not sure what happened with the photos. When I try to get them back up it says they contain errors. I will work on that. Jim

This is like a Tommy wrap, I have to try it out. Thanks for showing . Just one question do you just knot the neck cord or are you doing something else.
