I have not met or heard of a EW Hardrock Pape, I will ask some of my old timer friends if they know of him.
I have a fantastic Morrisonite slab but it is pretty R rated, so should probably not go on the forum. I have a large slab of Rocky Butte that is the best I have ever cut, will get a picture soon.

Hey Tony, glad you're on board. Gonna need your expert eye to ID some of these jaspers. There's such a huge variety coming out of the Owyhee's, that no one person could ID all of them. I'm not an expert on picture jaspers from the area by a long shot. Just someone who has always had a fascination with them. Thought it would be an interesting subject to start a thread about.
Man, that's a killer slab of Rocky Butte.
Do you ever get any of the jelly bean jasper from Haystack Butte in ? Yesterday I found one small slab listed and ordered it so I could post an example. Found a small box of rough this morning which I'm going to order.

I collected this a few years ago in the Owyhee area. Not sure if it is Jasper or something else. Anyone recognize it? I need to polish some of it.
That comes from the Haystack Butte area, there is a hill that has literally tons of that color and pattern, lots of it has small pin holes in it so it has never really been high on the collecting list but if you coat and/or seal it it comes out really nice. Tony HayStack Buttes, that's close to Madras, isn't it..........Close to Casey's ..........

Haystack Butte is west of Owyhee, OR which is about 20-30 miles south of Ontario, OR.
I have some Jellybean somewhere, will have to see if I can find it.
The Owyhee range runs into Idaho also, Bruneau jasper is in the Owyhees.

Hey Tony, I ordered 3-1/2 lbs of Jellybean rough just a few minutes ago. The slab I ordered yesterday was nice, but maybe I can slab out a killer piece for display.

Enjoying the information and photos of the Owyhee slabs, cabs, and rough - gorgeous stuff!! There have been several beautiful Owyhee red cabs recently cabbed and posted by members. Is the War Eagle aka War Bonnet? Although Hans Gamma has Owyhee's listed on his website, would it be easier if there were a list created of the names? Are Spiderman and Spiderweb jasper found in the Owyhee's? Palomino?? All of the tumbles and cabs were purchased from @rocks2dust, and many of the slabs were too, and many from members. Here's a few Owyhees: Chinese Dendritic/Flower Green Owyhee Morrisonite slab and end cut Morrisonite slab Owyhee slab and cab Here's an Owyhee slab that Rockoonz Lee placed in one of the Traveling Rock Boxes Assortment of Owyhee tumbles, cabs, and a slab Owyhee red slabs and cabs from @rocks2dust Rocky Butte rough tntmom Krystee kindly sent me this huge beautiful slab of what I think is Rocky Butte?
