No biggie. Just another one of those Ah’ve lived heah all mah lahf and ah’ve nevah seeeeen anythang lahk this befo’ moments. And if you were a 1000 years old, you would be saying something along the lines of: " Global warming? Drought?? This ain't nothing; remember back in 1250 when the Great Lakes dried up?" Oh, was it all these nasty factories, power plants and internal combustion engines that caused that one too? putz Like a broken record last few years. Exactly! Except the broken record is the morons screeching about how the world is coming to an end if we don't do something NOW. The Arctic ice cap will melt by next week. How if 1/3 of the rainfall/snow melt in California isn't diverted into the Pacific those poor innocent Delta smelt will cease to exist. Screw the farmers. Screw the humans. SAVE THE DELTA SMELT Morons. Brought this on themselves and/or could fix it in a quickness if the libs would get the hell out of the way. Saw a nice article last week showing the lawns of the elite (rich) lefties in California. Sure are nice and green! They quack & groan about conservation until it reaches their property line. Hypocrites every damn one of these greenies. They (elites) all still have their private planes, jetting around the world for this film festival or that wedding. Do as I say, not as I do! F 'em all. Guess what? Rich folks on the right do the exact same thing. Private planes, yachts, opulent mansions or multiple houses etc etc ... difference is, most of them aren't out wailing that the sky is falling, all the polar bears will be dead by nest Thursday unless the (socialist leaning) government regulates and taxes the hell out of anyone that's doing well. Yes, we will have more environmentally friendly options in the future, but we don't have them YET. Ya can't regulate and tax a good alternative into existence. Progress takes time. Until you are willing to do without a gas powered vehicle, electricity, clean water and sewage disposal, fresh groceries trucked (or flown!) in from all points on the compass, - basically ANY modern convenience - STFUHo hum ... HYPOCRITE

I find it amazing that we are so willing to accept the fact that rocks were moved all over this continent by glaciers. That we can find sea fossils in the desert. That we can find large mammal fossils in wet areas. That you can look at the Grand Canyon and see that there were dry times and wet times. That there were meteor strikes that changed the planet. That there were volcanic eruptions that changed massive areas. That there were storms that changed coast lines. That there were earthquakes that changed landscape and rivers. That there were landslides that changed huge areas and caused tsunamis that devastated large areas. That there were huge fires caused by lighting that burned massive areas. That there were floods that changed rivers and landscape. That plants, animals, and many other types of creatures and such have been here and are now gone. Etc.
But everything that happens to this planet now is Man made! WTF am I missing!...................................................MrP

Surprise surprise! Rich has pointed out that it gets warm when summer comes on *L*. Jeez Rich, you ought to climb out of your mom's air conditioned basement and go outside once and awhile. Actually been cooler than normal here in Texas this year.....Mel

It is totally asinine to think man could make a disastrous change on this planet.
Dear God, where all da fish go. Was here just 50 years ago.
"BOOM" Adam, do not bother me with stupid questions. You ate them all. Jim

Beats shovelin’ hail, eh? Am I still on your block list Rich? Your hurting my feelings! Not really. Can't answer a simple question? Would that answer go beyond your beliefs? Is it against your religion to speak out against your GW god`s. Or will your mom kick you off their health care plan if you do. ÉéééÉÉéé.....On a side note anyone know why my key board gives me one of these Éé instead of a question markÉ

Did you know that prehistoric sharks could chase you up hills ?? Massive coral reefs at 80 feet above see level from yet another ocean that had to stay several thousand years till a reef formed.. Reefs still partially intact. Very telling about tectonic and glacial disturbances.

Rich like to stir it up. He is probably sitting back grinning like a possum eating schnitt. Yes he does. Been at odds with him for the last 7 years. Funny thing is he stands by being a so called independent. But never has anything good to say about the conservatives. Always making fun of the Tea Party. Admit it Rich, your a ultra leftwing mouth piece. Kinda like this woman.

Just interesting weather, Mel. Seems like there’s more o’ that goin’ around lately.
Alaska, two weeks ago - Eagle’s 91F reading on Saturday was hotter than any temperature measurement so far this year in either Houston or Dallas, Texas.
James – If you scroll down to fig. 10 in Cook’s paper, you’ll find the source of the chart that set hearts aflutter.

Just interesting weather, Mel. Seems like there’s more o’ that goin’ around lately. Record Highs Portland 106° August 1981 Boise 111° (twice) July 1898 & July 1960Missoula 107° July 2007 Yakima 110° August 1971 oh... you say this map shows it's unusually hot for the month of May... Previous highs for the month of May: Portland 103° in 1983 Boise 99° in 2003 Missoula 93° in 1986 Yakima 102° in 1986 Looks like it was pretty warm back in the 1980s. Weren't the climate fear mongers quacking about the coming Ice Age in the 1970s? Guess that the heat in the 80s blew that theory so they had to come up with a new angle to keep their deception going. Probably went something like this: "Well, it's too hot to keep pushing this Ice Age thing, so how 'bout we tell 'em it's going to get too hot!" "Yeah, that's worth a try. Gotta make sure to blame it on humans, just like the Ice Age con. We need a scary name for it..." "Let's call it Global Warming!" "Perfect! bwhahahahahahahahaha Now excuse me while I go change my stock portfolio." You bore me Rich. And, it's rather obvious that it's a waste of time to try to lead you away from the misinformation those with this "Climate Change" agenda are pushing. (psst... they are in it for the money) BTW... Climate changes. Always has, always will.

Now maybe (this is just a guess) none of you know what the ef you are talking about.
Like arguing with Billy about oil. Without oil Billy is hard pressed to feed his family so to even think the wrong way is cutting his own throat.
The rest of us are going to be dead soon so what does it matter right? Certainly can't get anyone here to err on the side of caution, that would be against what yer pappy taught you.
Try insanity, it really helps. Jim

It wasn't supposed to make sense just like everything else that has been posted in the last page or two. Scientific debate by internet scientists. Got it all figured out all by yourself. I see one of those Peulitzer surprises coming up. Jim

Not to put to fine a point on it but erring on the side of caution in this instance can have consequences. Politicians who err in such a way are prone to create laws and rules that can have adverse effects on all our lives. Such laws can damage commerce, cost jobs, raise energy costs, and in short, screw up the lives of many. All this based on unproven theory. As I've said before, when I was in college taking weather and climate courses, all the government supported scientists were warning of a coming cold period in forty years (which would be now, by the way). Plainly, weather and climate are not predictable to a great extent and scientists tend to constantly change sides depending on from whither the money flows. One tends to forget that scientists are to a great extent whores feeding at various government and corporate teats because that's how they support themselves and their jobs, families etc. Man made climate change and how much it matters is theory we are talking about, not proven fact.
And by the way, I still contend global warming is good, global cooling is bad. The world has more mouths to feed all the time and while global warming means longer growing seasons and more places where you can grow food. Global cooling means folks can grow less food in less places and a big ole bunch of folks starve, are killed fighting for resources, growing territory etc. Anyone want to live in an ice age? I'm a warm weather beastie, I sure don't. If there is man made global warming, heck, maybe it's keeping us from a fatal cold trend.....Mel

Great post Mel. Does the climate change propaganda hurt a business? Yes it can as Tim Hortons is finding out. As the story goes, Enbridge was running adds on the screens in the Tim's coffee shops. A group from the US called Forest Ethics decided to to attack Tim's and run a online petition. Tim's buckled to their pressure and pulled the adds. Wrong thing to do in western Canada were a lot of their business comes from the oil patch. Well the oil people pushed back with their own boycott. Below is just one of the FB posts from the boycott. Greg Gartner To the P.R. Department of Tim Hortons, Inc.: I was quite interested to hear of your recent actions today in pulling the Enbridge Pipeline ads from your stores, in response to online petitions circulated by various anti-oil groups. I have attached a photo of my TimCard. This morning it had a balance of $524.65. In the morning I plan on donating this to the local homeless shelter and never darken a Tim Horton door or drive through again. I have also instructed my broker to dispose of my shareholdings in QSR. I have just been keeping them more for nostalgia’s sake anyway. Today’s events have shown me that you don’t have any idea about your customer base,, and I may as well get out while they still have some value. Your operating performance has been dismal as well as of late, so it seemed like an opportune time. I read so much on social media today that this move by your employer was a “victory for the people”. I view it more as a knee-jerk reaction to a vocal minority, and shows the faulty business judgement that your organization has consistently displayed. Let’s go back to that Timcard. Every month I dutifully top it up, and use it to buy coffee and donuts for my crews and office staff (who work in the oilpatch by the way), clients, weekend hockey games for parents and coaches, etc. You know – all Canadian stuff. I would conservatively say that between my partner and myself, we likely spent between $1,500 to $2,000 a month at our local Tim Horton’s franchises. So by listening to a bunch of Birkenstock wearing, Starbucks swilling, flavor-of-the-day hipster poseurs who had to do no more than click their mouse twice to sign a “petition”, you have clearly shown me that your understanding of your customer base is greatly flawed. Do you seriously think that they are buying coffee and donuts from your franchisees? They are quaffing a no-foam, decaffeinated soy latte at Starbucks, complaining that they don’t know which cause they should be protesting this week. Their thumbs are just too sore from all that texts on Twitter, Facebook or whatever social media is in style this week. They may “vote” through social media. My friends and myself will just vote with our wallets. It is really too bad. The local franchisee is actually a decent guy. And MacDonalds doesn’t have those great Take Twelves that are so convenient for those Saturday am hockey games….. For now. www.therebel.media/boycotttimsglobalnews.ca/news/2036702/tim-hortons-faces-backlash-after-yanking-enbridge-ads-from-stores/www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/tim-hortons-yanks-enbridge-ads-sparks-alberta-backlash-1.3100676
