Guess i should start packing. Hahaha
Obama takes veiled shot at Aussie PM Abbott on Climate? '...is not fit to lead' Speaking to a global leadership conference on the Arctic, President Obama says that those who want to ignore the science 'are on their own shrinking island' and any world leader that doesn't take climate change seriously is 'not fit to lead.'
As the highest profile leader to rebuff Obama's pressure on climate, Australian prime minister Tony Abbott famously called much of the science behind catastrophic climate change 'absolute crap' and successfully repealed Australia's deeply unpopular carbon tax.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: "So the time to heed the critics and the cynics and the deniers has passed. The time to plead ignorance is surely passed. Those who want to ignore the science they are increasingly alone. They are on their own shrinking island. [...] Any leader willing to take a gamble on a future like that, any so-called leader who does not take this issue seriously or treats it like a joke, is not fit to lead."

All that piddly little 1" of rain did was make more undergrowth increasing fuel thus increasing the fire danger. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Snowfall warnings in place for Tour of Alberta Stage 3 route EDMONTON – Say it ain’t SNOW. Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings for areas near Hinton, Nordegg and Grande Cache. The first major snowfall of the year is expected to hit that area Thursday night and during the early morning hours of Friday. While it’s not unusual to see an early September snowfall warning in that region, the timing is not great. globalnews.ca/news/2202615/snowfall-warnings-in-place-for-tour-of-alberta-stage-3-route/![](http://i.imgbox.com/bRQooBzk.jpg)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's gonna happen, and a strong one at that.
My brother has been going out on the half day boats. The last time he went, there were 67 anglers on board, and 73 yellowfin tuna were caught. (He and his son had three of them!) People that went farther out to sea on a 2-day boat were skunked, no or few tuna. The fish are coming in much closer to shore because of the warmer than usual water temp.
There was even a couple hammerhead sharks just off La Jolla over the weekend.
Everything is pointing to it.

Supposed to rain tonight/tomorrow. Our immediate area (South San Jose on the weather map) is above normal; surrounding areas below normal.

I'm in the "Exceptional Drought" area of southern California. Dry, dry, dry here. Lawn's dead, foundation plants are struggling, no significant rain in sight according to the forecast. I'm wondering when/if the torrential rains predicted for the big El Nino we're supposed to be having will arrive. My water company is now setting a goal of 32% water reduction. Violators will get a written notice the first time, followed by a $100 fine for the 2nd, $250 for the 3rd and $500 for all after that.

I remember your mention of long dry/wet cycles lasting decade/decades. Dictated by the water temp arrangement in the Pacific. Still having trees die form our 2008-2009 drought here. I remember which ones lost leaves back then and figured there would be long hours removing them after they died. One oak in particular behind the house that is probably 30 inches in diameter 50 feet up the trunk. Many half that size. Lots of work. Lots of long term damage. People don't realize some of the long range impacts of such droughts. Ours was only 2 years, looks like you guys are painted with severe drought for 4 years running. And dry for longer than that. There is a large population there. Hate to see a drought set up in such a place.

I agree with gemfeller. The date of the arrival of El Nino keeps getting pushed ahead more and more.
Heh! There are snowflakes falling on my monitor!!!! Neat! We are supposed to have rain here today. Hope so.

Having a mild and wet winter here in the Texas hill country so far. Lots of well spaced out soaking rains. Creeks, lakes and ponds here on the ranch are all full and running crystal clear. If this is what "global warming: is, bring it on!
Re: the Obomination criticizing the Aussie PM about his stance on global warming: He who shall forever be known as "Obama the Incompetent" ,criticizing anyone for doing a bad job, is friggin ludicrous!.....Mel

*LOL* You see folks, dumbasses like parfive believe that if we cut fossil fuel use, tax the Hell out of everyone in this country, and start building more wind/solar generation, that all of a sudden the weather will stop being the "weather" and folks will stop being killed by it. Weather always has the capacity to be deadly. Perhaps it's because we Texans are used to interesting weather, we are more realistic and do not live in the liberal world of fantasy where doofuses actually believe we can somehow change the weather so everyone in the world will not be too cold or too hot and everyone gets the perfect amount of rain. Any intelligent beings ( leaving out Gore, Obama, Kerry, Hildo, libs in general etc of course) who have taken classes in weather/climate and geology knows this just will never be. The weather will always be bad somewhere, weather /climate changes constantly, and folks just have to accept it. Rather than fossil fuels, the footprint of an ever increasing human population and man's destruction of the planets substrate by paving, building, deforesting, desertification etc etc is probably one of the more important things changing the weather and climate and that ain't gonna stop so we may as well accept it and quit listening to the climate change gurus who are mostly feathering their own nests at the expense of all of us. If you really think of it in biological terms, weather is a good thing as bad weather helps control human population. If the weather were perfect, human population would increase even faster .....Mel

I'm on the North Coast 20 miles north of Eureka, CA. In last week we've had over two feet of rain... Not one drop of that will help the rest of state at all. Our reseviors are too full and no way to share short of trucking. Not efficient... ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
