I've been buying Montana nodules on ebay from a seller. I've got some nice cabs but not the material I really like. I've exchanged a lot of emails with seller and he won't list his best stuff on ebay because the buyers aren't willing to pay for it. He sells his best stuff off ebay. He collects his nodules.
He asked what I liked and put together a mfrb box. He said his other customers were pleased. I'll post more after getting the rough and doing some slabbing.
Good Montana is tough to find at a reasonable price.

I get it for the price of gas to get there. Gas from California would be more and I wouldn't know what to select. I am looking for slabs like these 3: This is typical of most of the rough I slabbed: The scene is what matters most to me and it is hard to find great Montana.

Gas from CA might be tough, but if you get the opportunity to go on a trip to MT at the right time, you could find some wonderful stuff. Not just MT agate either.

My home state is Montana,so I get to hunt for agate when I'm there-but also have a Nephew that hounds the Yellowstone,so he supplies me with rock too.. Montana agate out here is pushing $12.00 a pound(not worth it),my opinion of course! Found a seller in Montana that gives a person a great price,so I bought from him twice and once from a friend on this forum.. Love the stuff!!!!

Box arrived today, crammed. I guessed 25 pounds and it weighed 24. Either I got more landfill or maybe some good stuff. The truth is in the cutting.

Looks like some good cutters in the bunch.............At least they put a good wrap on your box! I had some Montanas come from Missoula,MT-the box was busted open and in a crate marked damaged, had to be delivered and signed off by the postal driver!!!!!!!! Most every cut into a Montana will give a person a different picture and design.....Thumbs up Can't wait to see what you do with them.............

Heck, I don't know. I never actually had anyone interested in them. (except lowballs) Let's talk, come September. Right now I need to save for a home trip to Europe. I'm always interested in high quality Montana's by the slabs, or oddballs for carving. I rather pay the price for a good slab, than cheap stuff by the tonn just to get a few useful pieces.

On my last trip to the Yellowstone I found an older guy that hounds the river everyday. He sells Montana agates and pet wood for .50/lb. I brought back a couple hundred pounds from him as well as the stuff I found in the river. Most is waiting for when I can get a saw and actually cut the stuff.
