Thanks so much for the read and the reminder Bob. Unfortunately, the dullards we have coming up from the present generation can barely read or write and only receive input from warped liberal teachers who are part of the problem not part of the cure. We often forget history is written only by the victors and this is a prime example. So sad ...Mel

Intrigues me.
I gotta say, Northern folk are OK, but the Southern folk always have to explain themselves to em'. The twang, always the twang.
I'm going to Berea College, liberal college, first college to accept African-Americans as far back as 1855, it's a high success rate school, students graduate with little to no debt, and the college staff to student ratio is 1:11, plus they teach you more courses that you actually want and allows you to work for tuition and to receive a meager paycheck. I'm glad.
P.S.
Berea College has a mineral museum. Wow. Liberals are fun.

adam ... you ought to take 30 minutes, or however long it takes you, and write down on paper some of your opinions on current issues and maybe some of your thoughts regarding your political and moral/ethical values as of this time in your life and before you start college. Might be interesting to read in 4 or 5 years. Good luck at school.

Wow Bob, you finally posted something worth reading. In fact, something that every literate person in this country should have to read. Oh damn, we are not allowed to force anyone to do anything except in the schools where our children are forced to take everything at face value no matter who wrote it or how many lies are in it. Boy, those republicans were something else back then too. Note to self: Keep pushing, try harder, you are the only perfect, sane person left on the planet. WHAT? You weren't expecting me to believe anything less were you. hahahaha Carry on folks, I am finished. For a little while.Jim

I enjoyed the article although I probably take issue with Megyn opening salvo about tyranny Didn’t the state legislature vote overwhelming to remove the flag?

Yes they did. But everyone is forgetting why. Re-election!!!!!! Kinda tough to do once the left brands them with been racist, homophobia, and any other phobia they feel will further their cause and do the most damage.

If you replace "left" with "Billy", then insert his argument for oil wouldn't it be just about the same thing. Preservation of your job. This post does NOT mean that I agree with the decision on the flag. Jim

It is not surprising at all how politicians vote with the media gun placed firmly against their collective heads. Recent history has proven them to be spineless.

I have Progressive agenda phobia.
"we are going to have to change our conversation; we're going to have to change our traditions, our history; we're going to have to move into a different place as a nation." phobia.
Bigger .gov / more regulations / fewer rights phobia.
The list is long. I must be one sick puppy.

shining a light on situation probably makes a few squeamish but it depends on what type of light so the question becomes: was it wrong thing to do? let have another debate o boy < channeling Bill Clinton > What does IT mean? There were a LOT of "its" discussed here. IF "it" refers to removing the flag from government property, I believe that was the correct decision. If "it" is about not selling the Confederate flag on places like Walmart and Amazon, I think that is entirely wrong and simply bowing to the direction of the current wind. If "it" is removing The Dukes of Hazzard from television programing, I'm thinking that is full on retard. If "it" is removing war memorials, moving the graves of fallen soldiers, renaming schools, parks or streets named after Confederate heros, or banning Confederate flags from the graves of Confederate dead, I am all for shipping those with such desires off to another continent. F them!! I'm sure there were more "its", but I'm kinda busy to go back and look.

One of the many hats I have worn in over 30 years working (mostly) for the same folks is problem solving. One of the first things you learn is to find the root of the problem, and that the root is usually not what you see (ie root). In the world most of us live in solving that problem means success.
Not so in the world of modern politics. It's all about power and control. So lets say they solve poverty. So what do they do with the ginormous welfare state after that, and how do they campaign for re-election claiming to want to solve it? (and on a side note I was absolutely tickled that spellcheck didn't underline ginormous in red) How about the war on drugs? Then there's the Presidents personal war on racism, a howling success, right? It's all about perception in a world where rearranging the deck chairs gets more attention than changing the frickin' course to avoid the obvious iceberg.

I’d like to use that root cause analysis (RCA) on the frounders of the Constitution. What was the root cause of the disagreement ?
I mean this group of people just participated together in a Revolution against their homeland. You would think they’d be united in purpose. But no ! Right away arguments ensued. Feds versus the Anti’s They weren’t into the second presidency when things started going south! Literally <sly grin>
So is it endemic to a democratic system that sides will be drawn? Or is the root problem just people?

*LOL* Went to one of the sites still selling he stars and bars. Message read somethng like, " Due to high demand it's gonna be awhile before yore order is going to be filled." *L* Attack on freedom of speech by some is turning out to be a marketing windfall for others. Gotta love capitalism. Looking at some stars and bars grips for my 1911 but I want Bob's design with the don't tread on me in the middle. Ranch next door is flying dual stars and bars flags by their gate. Gotta love Texas too!!!!!...Mel

(Quoting Lee) Then there's the Presidents personal war on racism, a howling success, right?
How can Ocommie have a personal war on racism, when he's a racist himself ? When was the last time you heard Ocommie mention the white half of his heritage ? He hasn't since before the first time he was elected. And he won't, because he's prejudiced against the white race.
My piss a liberal off, crossed rebel flags lapel pin should be here in todays mail. Ebay missed one seller, and I managed to order one before they blocked the add. LOL
