You weren't wearing Crocs were you?
Only Yankees and the simple minded wear Crocs. And truthfully, there ain't much difference between those two groups.

Oh me. Forsyth County Georgia had a big hoplah about black and white. Ended up NAACP and marches kinda opened some doors for black movement in to an about all white county like 15-20 years ago. North of that county in the mountain areas remains about totally white. Another spot that I rarely see any blacks is the Ocala National Forest, also known as 'The Forest". The west boundary is the Ocklawaha River. Not sure why, but the forest folks don't seem too red carpet to any minorities. And it has a fair population of northern US migrants.

Recall the time when I lived in Florida Went into an ACE hardware store for a faucet part for the sink Conferring with the stock hand, a big bearded white fellow the conversation started going wonky He called me a damn yankee. I was really confused. Had no idea where that came from or in what context it meant? I said something stupid like no I’m from the Sonoran desert. His reply was your still a damn yankee. It was first time I had been discriminated again... mostly That's OK Ed, his loss. Once he got to know you he would set you at his throne. Guessing you would have kept him beyond amused. I buy and sell land down in Florida and take pride in being a reverse role carpet bagger. A southerner taking money from yankees. And enjoying it, and never screwed one. But I have to tell you, my neighbor at Florida camp is the most 'know-it-all' New Jersey fellow. As soon as he walks on to my property he is telling me how to do everything. He has learned I will cuss him for such and call him a @#$% yankee. We just crack up and pop a few beers. Lest he catches me in a bad mood. Which he has. He steps a little lighter now that he learned my tolerance. LOL. Always pointing out that it takes 3 yankees to whoop a southerner. The stock hand had no idea of where the Sonoran Desert is and probably did not care. I think the word is provincial, meaning that we keep to ourselves. Common behavior in these parts. Maybe it is the dense forest.

Ha ha James!! I like that there is a rest of the story The faucet part in question I had bought with me I forget exactly what the issue was something about needing the correct threading something like that. So I'm asking this good ole’ boy about it and he pulled the part-- which I bought Something like eight dollars Anyway back at the homestead it was the wrong fitting! Ha Ha on me…mostly So I went back the next day and talked to same gent. He was all rainbows and sweetness. Immediately got me the right part I think he did it on purpose… mostly from the Sonoran desert and doesn’t know squat about plumbing

Dang Bob, *L* ( sitting here in my Crocs) I can't help it, my feet get hot and that makes my chigger bites itch. I need the air conditioning. Plus, can't go bare foot cause of all the dang scorpions, fire ants and centipedes. Now them dang sandals that them west coaster tree huggers wear all the time, them'er objectionable hippy gear.
You know, if folks do night time vandalism or theft in Texas, they just might legally get in real serious trouble if the landowners catch them. Seems to me, a real stupid thing to do anywhere. Trespass and theft is after all, criminal.....Mel

That second one, the flag off the house was right across the bay from me in Bradenton.
Thief needed a nice Louisville Slugger beat down.
Police are "working on it". Video shows very clear picture of the thug as he gets into the car. Check a few local high school yearbooks. He'll be there if he went to school.

Found this article placed in Atlanta Magazine written by a South Carolina lawyer. She is about my age, Jewish, had a black nanny as I did, probably well to do and liberal. She takes a stand against the flag being flown at govt. institutions, but not museums. Makes two points about the Confederate Flag being displayed at 1) govt. institutions and 2) museums. The original target of this thread was the attack on the flag at Stone Mountain Park here in Atlanta, a state or federally funded museum. www.atlantamagazine.com/news-culture-articles/a-child-of-south-carolina-and-the-complicated-legacy-of-the-confederate-flag/"" Learning history awakens, enlightens, and forces introspection. For that to happen, it cannot tolerate the adoption of a symbol without also knowing the truth about it. When historical items become icons, the facts take a back seat to dogma. The truth is sacrificed. South Carolina finally has taken down the symbol that when I was young I did not fully understand. Some people learn the true history and change. Others live with the myth and perpetuate hate and discrimination, and, in its darkest form, violence. It’s now time for the rest of us to evolve fully and to understand the hate and the oppression such a symbol represents. It belongs in the museum—and not in any state-sanctioned place in a nation that ostensibly celebrates freedom."" So she takes a viewpoint that it only belongs in a museum, as if it were in a collection of evil. Displayed only as a museum piece representing oppression. Seems a very narrow minded view. I suppose lawyers do not make good historians.

Note the fellow stealing the flag is not wearing crocks. But athletic shoes for a fast escape to a running car with the door open LOL. Video footage to record a true trophy and show of courage if I had to guess. Would you want to steal a Confederate Flag off of captbob 's front porch ??

Would you want to steal a Confederate Flag off of captbob 's front porch ?? No, no you would not. I would not amicably come out to see what was going on or inquire as to the reason that you are at my door or in my yard. I would come out armed and with a foul disposition. May or may not release the rottweilers - urban yutes love them. It's kinda like baiting deer, but different. Deer are smarter.

Tell it captbob, tell it. Not only does he have his fastest pair of shoes, his pants are in fast mode too(i.e., not hanging down to his knees). The man with a real set would maintain the pants at knee level for a much slower escape. Not to sure I have heard of any one from Georgia getting a Confederate Flag stolen. From St. Petersburg
