go you! we want to hear every little detail as things unfold. what fun! it was a big "NO" snowmom. They wanted a football sized opening surrounded by green backdrop (bamboo) for a winter shoot here whilst in Atlanta. Mimicking Venezuela, and they needed to be landing helicopters in the field. I have such, but the darn field is full of ponds. OUCH A long shoot generating big income. Not to mention, they sent the movie scouts out without the Pinewood agent and I had to show them around myself. A greenhorn. A huge client and I am hosting them, and getting rejected face to face without the agent padding the rejection LOL. I was polite and hid my emotions but my face went white and had that sinking feeling of losing my retirement in one fell swoop. Needless to say, I performed well I guess. The Pinewood agent called shortly after they left and wanted to know details. He was calming me down and padding the failure. Said he probably has another group coming next week. He is petting me and seems very confident my place will get use. He insinuated it was on the job training and I saved him a lot of time by handling them myself. Those folks are busy as hell. And I was flattered he trusted me with their big client. I think he wants me to handle future visits. Big money assisting busy people ha. And am poking hints about using me as a location finder since I know this area like the back of my hand. Had the scouts told me what they were looking for I probably could have helped them. Anyway, this was the lead scout Toby Corbett and his substantial credentials. After looking him up after they left reality struck. www.imdb.com/name/nm0179203/

James, look at the bright side - If they don't use the bamboo farm, and just go away, you are no worse (or better) off than you are now, right? It's not like you had a big outlay of cash to prepare for them.
I was polite and hid my emotions but my face went white and had that sinking feeling of losing my retirement in one fell swoop. Kinda looks like you wuz countin' yer chickens before they hatched, lol.
Suck it up, and accept the rejection; enjoy the petting from the Pinewood agent.
Deep breaths... Patience, Grasshopper. Good things come to those who wait. I mean, unless you think the zombie apocalypse is going to happen before they get their sh!t together??
(The upside is if they decided not to use your bamboo grove, and they did just go away, no Hollyweird types for you to have to deal with. Capiche?)

rockpickerforeverThe Pinewood agent seems assured he will be signing the property Jean. Acts as if it is a feather in his cap, so he seems confident. Probably better that I don't know the size of the operation and amount of filming. That surprised me yesterday. It does it does. Provides a little interest around here anyway. The agent(or his company) get 20%. Me and him agree on a number based on what he thinks the property would lease for, then he tacks 20%. Subject to opinion or scrupulous dealings for sure. Have talked to plenty of people and they were happy with the income. Not so concerned.

So James, I can hardly wait to see you in Jodhpurs and such. Seriously though, congrats! Couldn't happen to a nicer feller. I would be somewhat surprised if you are not offered face time in a film. Check out captbob's face time LOL. Beware of Floridians Bill.

Great news James! I am so happy for you. And with your character and charisma and good looks, I wouldn't be surprised to see you in one of the movies! Hey everybody, what would be the best role for James in a movie? How about a mad scientist welding up crazy inventions to carry mutant plants to Mars? And of course you would ride a motorcycle. Keep us informed. {just kidding about the looks, we all love ya} Mark, I have made about all my income doing labor and working outside. Am 58, and would be tickled to get some easy $$$. When I started thinking about what to plant of the farm almost 20 years ago I thought about the bamboo and went with it. In dealing with some of the bamboo suppliers I was told about a man in middle Georgia that had about 30 acres of large bamboo. He was selling about a tractor trailer load of green bamboo poles a week to Hollywood for film sets. On several occasions I was asked to supply bamboo poles for film ind, including the movie 'Fled'. Never got around to advertising the farm groves till a couple of months ago when I heard of the growing film industry here. Never imagined they were going to be so anxious to list my place. As far as acting, well, not so good for box office sales. Best stick to being a lessor. Uh, background guy. If anything happens it will certainly be made known. Gotta keep the love flowing

Hey Radio I have a Pug, Sadie Mae Monster!!! Love a Pug? You better love hair, everywhere, all the time, year round!!! LOL. She is fawn. I hear the blacks don't shed as bad? Do you still raise pups? We have a total of 7 Pugs. 4 were ours and the sis in law moved in with three of her own. No more puppies. Our Black female was bred for two litters, then spayed. Our Vet suggested we let her have at least one litter before getting her fixed as he feels spaying females before being bred leads to obesity and a shorter lifespan Yes, Pugs do shed.....a LOT! some have single coats and some have double which is a whole lot worse for shedding Trying to figure out if the film agent likes me or the dogs radio. Never heard of a double coat. Love Pugs, and Frenchies.

(Make sure to safeguard it on your end, you know what I mean.)
And when you rent out the in-law suite, be danged adamant about collecting 100% for that! Agent should not get a cut of that.
Sending you more love, James! Hoping for best income, I mean, outcome, lol.

I did want to mention that I sorta drove off one of the dams when touring those guys. Was backing up, car hit a thick bamboo on the spare tire before it went down to the bottom.
And driving too close to the edges of lakes. They aren't stunt people.
In 30 years three ATV's have gone in the water. Me twice, a worker once.

Thanks Jean. Those guys did inquire about putting some people up. I prefer the stunt guys, maybe I could trip them out. Probably not.

Maybe you could share your driving stories, and they would laugh to death? Maybe the stunt drivers could give you some driving tips? Maybe not...

If one has a double coat, you will actually see good size tufts of hair when the shed. It's almost like the shorter coat is fine and downy and the longer hairs are more coarse and shed singly rather than en masse

James this is really exciting news for you. You didn't think you would strike gold first time out did you? LOL! You'll nail it in the long run. I'd say good luck, but I don't think you'll need it.
