rockpickerforever, the grain in that second piece is stunning. I love the stark contrast between dark/light and the deep undulations. Even the cracks are aesthetic!

Yes, Jean ( rockpickerforever) that one has a very special place on my "favorites" shelf. Thanks so much again! Y'all inspired me to take a couple pics of some of my wood. A piece from the Blue Forest that does a great job of demonstrating the algae that covered the submerged wood before it all got petrified. A big piece of palm wood And lastly, a really stunning piece of Arizona wood

Opalized Wood from the Royal Peacock. 45 carats I found this as I was walking by and bent over to pick up a piece of trash. WOW! Look at all that gorgeous opal flash!

Number 2 I really like this one...a sapling?...a twig/limb? The slenderness and it having some length is cool. The end view is neat, too.

This thread is getting a bit quiet. thought i would spike it up at bit. three sets of book ends from same chunk of wood. It is amazing how fast the colors change.
