This one... Agatized wood by sdttds, on Flickr I wasn't inferring that it *was* bone, but that it looked like it. Maybe the legbone of some long-lost cousin?<g>

A piece I won't cut. This is pet palm collected east of the Calico Ghost Town, San Bernardino Co., Ca. in the Green Ash Hills collecting area. I found this one on the early 90's. These hills had been hunted for at least 40 years prior to me finding this. I wonder how many rockhounds had tripped over this. Every rock on the surface of those hills has the same brown desert tarnish. This piece caught my attention because it resembled a horses hoof. It's the transition point between palm trunk and root ball.

Thanks Thunder69 and herchenx , great to see you both as well! This thread is getting a bit quiet. thought i would spike it up at bit. three sets of book ends from same chunk of wood. It is amazing how fast the colors change. Those are some gorgeous pieces there! Some more Opalized Pet Wood. Man, your opal stuff makes me dizzy.. incredible!

Aw man...come on, Jimi, I think you can roll that one up to the truck!!! Just a few other rocks to roll it over and it can't weigh over 100-150 pounds...

Gotta keep this thread alive!
the big ones are impressive but it sure is easier to get the small ones back to the truck! this one is about 4 inches in diameter.

Wet rainy morning here in Oregon, so I am playing with camera until I get up the energy to go outside, but then football may start.
Sometimes just natural unpolished petrified wood makes for a good set of bookends.
even pieces of trim makes a good display. Ike dollar for size reference.
