As promised here is the thread to post your FALL / AUTUMN inspired pieces. Not many rules except that the piece should contain wire, a stone and/or beads. No soldering- it's not fair to those who don't know how. The piece must be new- made for this challenge. You should post a few sentences describing the piece and how you relate it to Fall. Remember- There is NO wrong or right. This is completely about your perceptions and creative expression. I'll bump the thread if it's needed. I know if people are like me, nothing will get posted till towards the end of the month. I'm really looking forward to seeing what y'all come up with. I have an idea of my own to flesh out. Have a great time brainstorming and being the creative beings that you are.

Stone can be something I cabbed myself, or a purchased cab? Or just a stone, not a cab? No restrictions here? We're not highlighting the cab (except how it fits the fall/autumn description), just the wrap? I am seriously going to try to get something done this month!

It can be stone or a cab. I was thinking to keep it to actual stone material since this is a rock site. It can be made however it defines your vision of Fall. Either by highlighting a very Fall cab or by being a wrap that is Fall'ish. However you want to do it.

We don't have fall here, so trying to come up with some thoughts on that. (Not always easy.)

I have an autumn-theme rope necklace that I wire-wrapped like 8 years ago. Can I enter it as a "bonus entry" and not as part of the competition itself?

But, this time of year you have some spectacular happenings in your yard. I've seen some . You can do something related to whatever about this time of year that you enjoy in your neck of the woods. Did that make sense? My mind keeps going to that blooming cactus!

To be honest and fair, I think we should stick to newer pieces. But, feel free to post it in a new thread as an appetizer. Remember too, this is not really a competition, it is more of a challenge to get people to think outside the box and do something they may not have thought about before. There is no voting and there are no prizes. No right. No wrong. Just camaraderie and, hopefully, fun. The point is to stretch creatively.

I keep thinking of the tumbled pendant that fell into a pile of leaves as I was rinsing my tumbler today...
Super excited to see what everyone comes up with, this should be fun!!

Well, I'm committed. I just bought wire especially for this project. Waaaay outside my comfort zone!!! I hope it doesn't take too long to get here. I'm anxious to start and have already narrowed down my choice of cabs.

Wouldn't you know it.... after I ordered the new wire, I came up with another idea for which I don't need the wire. Maybe, I'll post 2.

Well, it's true that if you are in a hurry for something it will never get here..... I'm still waiting for wire.

Speak of the devil..... look what was in my box. I have never used colored wire for a wrap before. I'm not too pleased with the colors, in person. They look a lot different than on the website. My monitor can't be that off! But, they are still Fall colors. Except for the pink rose gold. I thought it would be brassier or coppery-er. Now to design.....

That colored wire never seems to look the same online as in person for me too. You have a good variety there, looking forward to seeing what you create.

Well, I'm 99.9% finished. At least with the first one. I may do another, since I have the wire. Speaking of wire...... I can't say that I am in love with the colored wire.

I haven't posted in a while, still recovering from extremely busy summer when I had no time to wrap at all. September was spent catching up with everything else I let go in the summer. October finally is my month to get back to wrapping. I'd love to join in. I am still purchasing more supplies and may have to purchase a cab for this one. I still do basic wraps so I won't be doing any beads or leaf designs but I just want to get back to the forum and back to wrapping.
Great idea, Rockjunquie!!

OK here is my piece. I challenged myself several ways- first, I used colored wire; second, I followed a Fall theme, and lastly, I made a necklace (which I don't like to do). The use of this Natures Paint Brush was obvious as it has an Autumn scene right in it. I used orange, bronze and black copper coated ParaWire. I also used a copper toggle since I didn't have a better match for this and 2 base metal metallic black jump rings to attach the necklace since I knew it would be strong enough- unlike the coated wire. As for the coated wire.... I don't like to work with it. Oddly, the orange was a hair bigger than 20g, which they all were (excluding the flimsy 21g hr). The orange was also much harder than the others. I don't like that the coating can wear off. I'll probably take this apart because, where the pendant attaches to the necklace, it will quickly wear through the coating and look cheap and ugly. I think the same could be said for a bail. I don't like how much tools slip on it and how easily it nicks. Having said all of that, I do like that I could add color to my design. My Fall statement: The stone is obvious. The colors are Fall and I chose gray not only because of the grey in the stone but because I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, both of which are much, much worse for me in the cold. So, if Winter is black (pain) for me, then Fall is gray. That's my personal take. I used to love Fall, everything about it, but the last few years have been really bad. It weighs on me. My personal experience influenced my design in that way. The first orange beads are art glass, the next, I believe, are adventurine and the big gray are dyed quartz and the small are faceted quartz. I think the black wire in the necklace picks up the black in the wrap and in the stone. The beads are double wrapped. The necklace is 22" long.

That's amazing Tela. You should go to the desert area of Arizona for the winter. I go to Quartzsite and enjoy massive relief from my arthritus! I don't know if it's the extremely dry air or the warm weather or what but it works! Plus u get to experience the Gem n Lapidary Club!

That's a very nice piece of work. I can see a little difference between your work with the coloured wire and sliver. It marks easier and does not hold the same.
