Just so you know. I have sold far far far more rough than finished goods here. These folks are artists and rough stone is their canvas. Ignoring that is the same as taking a poll to see what people want, instead of posting pics and prices. Pics and prices sell material, rough or finished. Get to work. Well I need to ether slab it or make 1 cut to see if the material is worth selling... some things are and some arent... I have lots of agate that may have color or may be just clear... hard to say unless I cut. Get to work times 2! Omg.....

Lots of well traveled import material in all the pictures. What do you have for material from Alaska? I have lots of agates, jaspers, rhyolites and some other cool stuff for slabs or book ends... also some geode parts. My boss has a lot more geode parts as well as seen in 2 photos. If you like you can send me a pm with what your looking for Petrified wood is my favorite. I like twigs, limbs, logs, and slabs of rounds. I'm not interested in chunks unless they have knots.

Glenn recently got a job at this rock shop. I'm kinda thinking that the purpose of this thread is to show us what is available at this rock shop for us to buy. He makes a small commission on his sales, but it comes out of the price marked on the shop tag. Have bought several items so far, and the prices, along with Glenn's superior box packing skills have proven pleasant surprises. Items in hand are as nice as the photos; so I, for one, have appreciated what I feel are pretty darn good prices on some of these display type pieces - even with shipping costs added in. Yes, most folks here may prefer rough or slabbed pieces that they can work with, but I doubt I'm the only one that also collects display pieces. If/when Glenn has self collected items or rough for sale, I reckon (and would recommend) he would start a separate thread for such. Were this my For Sale thread and over a page of posts had been spent discussing poop or other members referred to items they had for sale on my thread, I'd be just a little bit peeved. So far, Glenn has been too polite to mention this stuff... me, not so much. Glenn is young, and I'll be the first to admit I find some of his posts a little discombobulated, but he has been a member here for twoish years and proven his staying power, learning along the way. I look forward to seeing what new items he posts in the future, as his boss has material coming from Tucson and is heading to Brazil this week to buy more. What I haven't quite figured out is why his boss opened a rock shop in Palmer Alaska (with a population of around 6,000) and doesn't already have a web site. Folks in Palmer must REALLY like rocks!

It is a sub business that is a small part in his main business shop. He doesn't have the time for a website nor does he have much time to run the rock shop part in summer.. If he decides to retire it is possible that I could be doing full time work for him, but that is a ways down the road.

As we talked about privately I'd be highly interested in seeing slabs - with pictures and prices posted so a specific transaction can occur. When you reach this stage, and if the value of the piece is right, myself and probably a couple dozen other "artists" from here and beyond would be falling over ourselves to post the first "mine."

I can hopefully do that when my boss gets back from his trip

One is pretty agatized, probably a couple feet tall give or take and about a foot and a half side. I'm not sure what part of the tree it is tho. I'll snap a photo tomorrow, you'll know more about it.

It's not like you are sole source for those. This offering of your wares in another sellers thread is very bad form. You are new, and have made some good will by dealing straight. You are ruining your good will.

I agree, i definitely should get a thread started. Even more so, I need to actually take some time and read other threads, check stuff out, see how y'all do things. I've only gazed at a few here and there and I didn't realize till then that there's a lot going on around here, y'all are busy and I've got a hellava lot to learn. Lol I apologize, totally didn't want or intend to cross boundaries.

It's bad forum etiquette and will get you far more grief from members than it's worth by any sales you would make. That, and the fact it causes a loss of any respect you might have already earned

That, and the fact it causes a loss of any respect you might have already earned well I get what your saying and I'm not trying to steal anything from anyone. So are you saying you all need to zip it, no offers to help, I got your back if he don't kinda thing? I assumed y'all were a tight knit community, and usually y'all look out for each other. Isn't this basically the same thing? Although I'm the outlast, doesn't mean I can't have anyone's back. So if someone is buying or selling and in that person didn't find the product he wanted, there isn't anyone in that thread that can refer, give direction to etc all because it's not your tread?. I understand the point being made, I respect that but is it worth being monitored and reprimanded? Idk...seems relatively easy to loose respect. I'd think it would take a lot more than what this is about to loose such a powerful asset. I don't steal, I respect this hobby and if respect is lost... That's a choice one makes, it's outta my hands. If everyone would not be so judgemental the sun may shine a little brighter. Happy, thursday

Imagine if I walked into a gun store with a backpack full of pistols offering "to help out". Think the shopkeeper would love that? What you did in this thread is the moral equivalent. Start your own thread, and I assure u it will be yours, nobody stepping on your toes. Equal respect. The fact you are butt hurt and not embarrassed means you don't get it. Maybe in a few years when you mature some you will understand your error better.

I might suggest sending a PM (PRIVATE Message) to whom ever you are interesting in offering your wares to, rather than stepping into someone else's For Sale thread. Just a courtesy and causing less consternation in general. Starting your own For Sale threads (as you have) lets others know what you have to offer. No poaching required

At least at this moment anyways. I love this hobby, I would rather give then take and stealing threads isn't part of my daily agenda. I'm not find of walking on pins & needles either. Ouch and your welcome and thank you for thanking me. It's gonna be a good day...don't burn it away

The fact you are but hurt and not embarrassed means you don't get it. Maybe in a few years when you mature some you will understand your error better. In defense of our new friend from Montana I would like to point out that she had already apologized when Radio piled on. I don't think this qualifies as butt hurt when you have already acknowledged your mistake and you get scolded again... nuff said

haha to be honest I'm not sure what it where I stuck my finger...lol totally confused, things seem sorta complicated and unnecessary. *sigh* okay... you have offered your "wares" twice on this thread. I could go back and find them and paste them here, but I'm kinda busy. First time, you got a gentle nudge that this isn't the norm. That didn't seem to work, so the 2nd time folks kinda spelled it out in less subtle posts. Kinda hope the message has been received and everyone can now go out and play in the sunshine - so to speak.
