I was a two pot drinking (12 cups per pot)....Could drink it hot,or cold, didn't matter! Was hitchhiking the western states at 15 years old,got hooked up with the "Hobos" on the road and was introduced to Hobo coffee, now that would stand you on your toes! Boiled water over an open fire,a handful of coffee grounds, and one egg shell... Did my tour in the Army(early 70's) and after that go around,my coffee stays black and the stronger the better, but only down to two cups a day (most of the time).. Once in a great while,I will go with my wife to Dutch Bros and get a fancy coffee, just to change up a bit...LOL Carmelizer, with four shots of espresso..........

Used to I cold drink coffee all day long and it wouldn't bother me...could nod off with a cup sitting beside my easy chair. As I got older I've had to cut off caffeine in the early afternoon as drinking it late definitely will keep me from sleeping. So, mostly morning coffee for me with an occasional afternoon binge. Of course now a days I go to bed a lot earlier than I used to. Matter of fact, my daughter called a while back at night after we had gone to bed and I politely asked her if she knew what time it was. She politely responded, "Yes sir, it's five minutes 'til eight."....she hasn't let me live it down, either. At 7:55 last night i was in a home writting a contract. You are lucky. I am still tired. At 8pm Tuesday night I was still at the shop...I'm still tired, too.

At the very least 2 pots a day. Hot, strong & black like the coffee I drank for 20 years in the Navy. Don't even try talking to me in the morning until I've had my first cup. Wash down a couple of Ibuprofen at half past midnight to ease the old age aches & pains with, (you guessed it), hot, strong & black coffee. And sleep like a baby.
Hope I never need a transfusion. Doctors are gonna have a hell of a time finding B+ caffeine at the blood bank.

As a young teen when I started drinking coffee I liked cream and sugar in it. Then I got a job with a crew tearing out an Old Milwaukee railroad line. They were black coffee drinkers and I soon was as well. I do once in awhile like to add some Swiss Miss hot choc. mix and a splash of Kahlua. A camping favorite, "Campachino".

I quit non dairy creamer for a long time and used skim milk. I just went back to it recently. I know it's bad for me, but I limit how much I drink now. About 4 big a day.

My wife loved her Coffee Mate (I did, too). When I told her it was like drinking liquid plastic the visualization stopped her immediately from using it. Even got her to taking her first cup in the morning with sweetener only. It amazed me she stopped so quickly! Seriously, if you want to do your heart a big favor then look at labels and if you find "hydrogenated" included in the ingredient list then ditch whatever the label is attached to. Would you really want someone to hook up an I.V. of liquid plastic to you? BUT...coffee....it has some good health benefits so drink up boys and girls!

Every now and then I'll go to Starbucks and get a "C Note"- a hot chocolate with a shot of espresso.

I like the aroma and the ambience; taste is usually secondary. Also like that husband, not me, makes it daily.
Doctor just took him off coffee for about a month, so I am off it, too. Had two cups with a friend out to lunch yesterday. Couldn't get to sleep! What a wimp!!!

Many years ago an older friend in a local B.A.S.S. club told me he would like to catch a large mess of bluegill for his freezer for the winter. I had an uncle that lived in North Vernon, IN that had a nice little pond on his farm just outside of town. After a quick call to my uncle, we were off to camp out for the night, and to fill a cooler or two. They were biting and we were having a great time. There was a nearby stump that was just the right height for cleaning fish, and after each one of us would catch about a dozen, we'd filet what we caught, and pack them on ice in plastic bags. We even had a hole dug next to the stump for burying the remains. We had one cooler filled, and a pretty good start on the second when another aunt, uncle, a cousin, and my Mom showed up out of the blue from Indianapolis, just for a visit. A few minutes later the aunt and uncle who owned the property showed up. My buddy made a quick trip into town after more bait, and picked up what we needed for a good ol' fashioned fish fry. There were ripe tomatoes and bell peppers (what we old Hoosiers call mangoes) in the garden that were added to the menu along with the fresh fish fried over the campfire and bread and butter. After we were all stuffed, the aunt from Indianapolis said the only thing that could make this more prefect would be a cup of coffee. All I could do was grin and get the large coffee can I brought with me for making hobo coffee. I filled the can 2/3 full of water, put in what I thought was the right amount of coffee, brought it to a boil for a bit, hit it with a splash of cold water, and let it set off the fire for a bit to let the grounds settle. My Mom, the cousin, and the aunts and uncles were surprised, pleased and a little impressed.
At this point in my life, I am the last survivor of that impromptu feast, and as I look back I would have to say that was the best cup of coffee I have ever had.

Great story, geezer! And, yes, perked camping coffee is the greatest! Although, I never did put any charcoal in it.
